Hello,

New to the board, and I need help.

My husband and I are going to Disney 2/14 to celebrate my birthday and our 23rd wedding anniversary. We have been to disney before with the kids, but this is our trip together.

Just wanted to ask if there are special things we can do while we are there.

Thanks.

strikes all snide remarks and dirty thoughts from his small mind

I've got nothing. Anyone else?

Ok, ha ha - we have been married 23 years and we will be doing that as well. I just wanted to know if Disney recognizes either birthday's or anniversaries in a special way, thanks

Right now they have a promo to get a free single park entry on your birthday or a gift card that needs to be used that day for the same price as the single park entry ticket. Also, stop off at main street at MK and pick up birthday and anniversary buttons. This is the "Year of Celebration" so you might want to let WDW know that you are celebrating. . .not sure what they are doing for those celebrations though. . .

Good ideas. Now, I'm guessing that it's more than just one day, and is a vacation that begins on 2/14?

As nurse.darcy mentioned, you can get buttons to wear from City Hall on Main Street in the MK. Also, you can let folks at the resort know if staying onsite. If you have any ADR, you can contact the restaurants to let them know.

Beyond that, depending on budget and tastes, you might try a Dinner at Victoria & Albert's in the GF. It's expensive, but I considered it to be worth every penny, and will remember it forever. Also, I think there are couples packages for Spa Treatments if that's of interest. However, you'd need reservations for both of those, and I'm not sure how tough they'd be to get less than 10 days out.

Mostly, unless you're proactive in "hinting" at special touches, you won't see much, aside from the extra attention when wearing the buttons or other special event items. Oh, and those do work. I remember them making a point of it during orientation when I worked there a few years back. Suggesting that we go out of our way to recognize things like that. Anything to add an extra touch of magic. (I liked to shout, seemingly out of the blue, HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY!, no matter how old the person looked. Nobody ever seemed offended by that, be they 15 or 50).

Thanks for all of the ideas, we are staying outsite and they do know that we are celebrating my birthday and our anniversary. We are staying until the 21st and I am sure my hubby has something cooked up, but I don't want to know - I am sure he will surprise me.

I have been reading that a mom and daughter were in a store shopping and the clerk noticed it was the mom's birthday and got Mickey to call the store and ask for her - the mom thought it was priceless.

It might be tough but worth a try....

We celebrated our 15 year anniversary last week with dinnner at the Cali Grill. It was awesome. I told them of our anniversary when I got the ADR. We timed it to watch the fireworks. When we arrived at the table they had decorated it with Mickey confetti and the menus were prepared just for us and said "Happy 15th Anniversary." They also gave us a Happy Anniversary card and a piece of chocolate cake to split for dessert. The server, David from TN, was great.

Given the short notice you may not get in there but I would strongly suggest that you get an ADR at a table service restaurant and tell them at the time of the reservation what you are celebrating.

Good luck!

We celebrated our 25th anniversary at WDW last year - first time there without kids and had a great time.

We had a fantastic meal at the CG and watched Wishes - we were given a free glass of champagne too. Loads of CM's wished us well wearing as we wore our anniversary buttons. In the American Adventure we were called up to the front and Mickey spoke to us on the phone and we were given a certificate. Also, in our room at SSR we came back to find balloons and a card from Mickey and Minnie. It really was a fantastic way to celebrate our anniversary - Disney has a way of making it very special and for this reason. we will keep returning! :thumbsup2
