My friend and her daughter will be leaving for Disney World this monday, for a whole week! And on tuesday, her daughter will be celebrating her 12th birthday! I was wondering if they do anything special for you when it is your birthday? I told her to make sure she goes to city hall at the Magic Kingdom and get's her a "It's My Birthday" button to wear. Any info. or any ideas would be wonderful to hear about.

Thanks in advance.

I've been there my birthday and DH Joe's birthday. We were staying onsite and told the front desk when we checked in.At AKL for Joe's birthday there was a card from Mickey When we got back a call from Goofy who sang HB to him on our voicemail.
Joe got free ice cream at one of the food stands on Sunset Blvd and all the CMs there sang HB to him!

I got balloons and a card from Mickey waiting in our room at Coranado. We ate at the Pepper Market and they gave me a free margarita....I got free ice cream somewhere that day.

I really think it's what sort of CM that you run into on your birthday that really puts the special into your day!

We took DD to MK on her 1rst birthday. We got a birthday button for her and she wore it all day. Several CM's said happy birthday to her, but most did not. That was it. Maybe it was because she's a baby. Also, we saw loads of people wearing the buttons that day. Hopefully, your friend's DD will have some magical moments, but if she is expecting special things to happen, she could be disappointed.

zen1,

I had heard of alot of nice things they do.
I am bringing my three grandgirls to WDW for a collective birthday trip, because we are going the week after one of there birthday a week before another ones and a couple weeks before the thirds.
I am thinking about getting a botton for them. Each on a differnt day and use that day for there" birthday". I also plan on having a cake ordered to have at our resort(POFQ) on our resort day, to have in the room for all of them.
Does anyone know if I can do this?. Will the foodcourt or the restruant at POR have somthing I can order?
If not how?
I didnt mean to take over youre thread...sorry
Maybe you could use the info too.

Make sure you do a sit down meal on the birthday. Tell them when you check in that there is a birthday in the party. They will bring out a birthday cupcake and sing happy birthday. If it is at a character meal, usually a character will bring the cupcake to the birthday person.

Thanks everyone for all the great info. and ideas! And Dalpal, that is a great question. Maybe someone here will know the answer for us, because I would like to know too.::yes::

I was going to have OKW get us a cakeone year, but it was very very pricey for what we would get. They said it would be easier to head over to the grocery stores near Downtown Disney for a cake. There are two grocery stores nearby (Goodings and Winn Dixie) and then Publix a little further away to get the cake. We figured that even with using a taxi(we did not rent a car that year) to go there plus the price of the cake at a grocery store would still be cheaper than the cake at OKW.

We decided since we were doing a birthday Illuminations cruise that trip, we would probably have enough cake left over from that and decided not to get one from the grocery store. One year, we went to Teppanyaki for dinner for DS's birthday, and they brought out an entire cake big enough for the table for his birthday cake.

Hope this helps a little.
