Is there anything special one can do/request when its one's birthday while at the park/resort?

Does anyone know if Animal Kingdom does anything special for its birthday? It just happens to be the same day as DS's. Gotta love an Earth Day birthday!

Thanks!

I hope you guys have the best April 22 yet! Happy Birthday to your child! I wonder if your birthday child is a boy or a girl. I'll stick to the sure bets, either way. When we went to WDW over a birthday we found a few balloons and a card in our room on my daughter's birthday. I had mentioned her birthday when I made our room reservation and again when we checked in to the hotel. Call the operator from your hotel room and ask if you can receive a birthday message from Goofy. Stop in to Guest Relations at one of the parks even before the big day and request a "today is my birthday" button so you will have it on hand that morning. This is sure to attract extra smiles and attention from Cast Members. You can call 407-872-3505 and order a birthday basket to be delivered to your room. It could hold candy, a CD, a plush character...they have lots of options. I would make reservations for a special birthday dinner. Let the CM know it is your child's birthday when you call and again when you check in. You might be surprised with a free birthday cupcake. (We received one at Chef Mickey's on a b-day.) I am guessing you will be in the AK on this birthday/Earth Day/AK combination day. I wonder if you'd be willing to celebrate dinner outside of the AK for the perfect ending to a perfect day. If you really want to celebrate Chef Mickey's is always a great birthday choice. It's a great napkin waving high energy character meal inside the Contemporary Hotel. You can see the inside of the A-frame hotel and the monorails as they pass by overhead. The Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge would be another great choice. It's another super fun, hoot-hollering good time offering loads of laughs and some little pranks with some Guest parcipitation. (Be sure to ask for some ketchup!) You can pre-order a cake to be delivered to you during your dinner by calling Disney's Cake hotline 407-827-2253. How about seeing a dinner show? I would pick the Hoop Dee Doo Review over at Fort Wilderness for lots of laughs!
By the way, did you know that Disney also has a special birthday number 407-939-BDAY for even more birthday ideas. I hope you all have a fabulous birthday trip!

... and yes, you should see activities for Earth Day in the Animal Kingdom. You can see lots of pictures from Animal Kingdom's Earth Day 2006 allearsnet website. if you google Animal Kingdom and Earth day you should see their page first. Check out Rafiki's Planet Watch for sure! Enjoy!

We were in WDW on DD's 13th b-day last summer.

We had breakfast at CRT, dinner in Norway, & then finished off the day with an Illuminations Celebration Cruise. I had pre-ordered a b-day cake which was delivered to our boat prior to our arrival. The 2 cast members on the boat sang "Happy B-Day" with us & cut & served the cake.

**Almost forgot...I also had arranged for DD to have a manicure at the salon at our resort (BCV) on her b-day.

Thanks for all the well wishes, "I Believe" and for the great advice! I hope to make it a great time for him, as his dad will be deployed during that time (we just found out. grrrrr! Doesn't the Army know I've already made plans???!!) So taking his mind and thoughts elsewhere will be great. And thanks, "Daisy" for your suggestions, too!

In 2005 when my dd turned 5, we were there with my dh entire family. We had scheduled a dinner ressie for the character meal at the Grand Floridian and that is where the most special birthday treat happened!!! Prince Charming came out and sang Happy Birthday and kissed her on the cheek!!! Cinderella made an appearance and dd had a photo op with her along with the mice...it was truly MAGICAL!!! Since it was October, we had gotten the birthday button and that entire day, all the cast members kept saying Happy Birthday to her and one gave her a pin for her lanyard. Later that evening at the MNSSHP she was given extra candy (even though she doesn't eat it, it was the thought that counted!) and was even allowed to go ahead in line. The CM's were all wonderful to her.

A truly magical experience all around!!! We still have pics with Prince Charming standing behind her (she though Cinderella would get mad she was stealing her boyfriend!!! ROFL)...and with Cinderella.
