We will be celebrating our 3yo's bday when we visit next month. I heard you can order a small cake and they will have it ready during the ADR of your choice. Has anyone done this?

I've also heard they can have balloons ready in your room at check in? Does anyone know details on this?

We will be dining at Crystal Palace one night. Do they do anything special there for birthdays?

This is the first time to celebrate a birthday while at WDW and I'm a little clueless :upsidedow

We are going to celebrate my son's 3rd birthday at the end of the month so, I would like to know too!

You can order a cake. You can call Disney dining I believe. There is a charge for it though.
Room deliveries are arranged through the Disney florist. It is unlikely they will be in your room at checkin because you room is not really assigned to you until you physically checkin. It can be given to someone who has a problem with their room etc.
What to expect for a birthday cm saying happy birthday, maybe some stickers any thing else is completely extra and should not be expected your you could set yourself up for disappointment

Here is a great thread about Disney World Cakes including the options, prices, ect. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2912870

I did note my son's 3rd birthday on our 3 dining reservations. At one (Chef Mickey's) he was given a cupcake during the celebration song - the cupcake was awful. At Garden Grill they confirmed the birthday when we checked in, but didn't do anything and at Tusker House it was never brought up (but the table next to us received a cupcake and a signed card).

You can get a celebration button at the resort or guest services, but other than that your mileage may vary as far as what you receive or don't (unless you are paying for something like a cake).

Don't expect anything other than a few happy birthdays.

If you want something above and beyond that then you need to arrange for it and pay for it.

I did get a card with balloons that was signed by characters. When we went on my Husband's birthday, he got nothing. It was a nice surprise for me and was appreciated.

Just don't expect anything other than a normal day or you may just disappoint yourself.

For my son we got a cake in the room with balloons- we got it for free b/c there we a few too many issues at check it. You can call the resort in advance though and have this set up.

My son also got a phone call from Mickey wishing him a happy birthday at the resort- this was free- you just need to call in advance.

When checking in tell the CM it is his birthday and you will get a birthday button for him- mostly he will just get a lot of happy birthdays at the park- but- sometimes you may get a free fast pass or extra time with a character b/c of it.

I will say dress you little one up in a really cute "it's my birthday shirt"- a mickey one if you can- seriously the cuter the birthday kid as well as the cuter the family will get you a bigger chance of extra perks.

When you say you noted this with your ADRs did you call them? Or just let them know about it when you checked in at the restaurant? I tried to note online but couldn't find a way to do it. Thanks for your advice!
