Day one of our 25th Anniversary Trip

Cast:
Myself, (Kate), 48 years young, mother of 4 kids (ages 10 to 20) with a full-time outside job as well. The Disney nut/planner and recent DIS board addict! Also the one who has been trying to convince DH to move to Florida for the last 25 years. LOL :bride:
DH (Harry) 49, father to the 4 mentioned Dear children, who works third shift and has recently put in mucho overtime. Likes Disney, but leaves the planning to moi! :groom:

(See Prologue for additional background info.)

We wake up to a dusting of snow on the ground, somewhat unusual for this late in April, but it is Cincinnati, after all! It is finally here, after all these months of planning, our trip is beginning! I'm a kid again, can't wait to get to Disney.

My parents and one of our kids ride along with us to the airport, where we are sent off with some tears. Oh no, don't start feeling guilty, every parent deserves time away from the little darlings, right? She'll be fine. DH reminds me Grandma is perfectly capable. OK, here we go.

So we're waiting in the terminal, with lots of other families with little kids, and I'm noticing the stand-by list, looks like a very full flight. Suddenly our name is called from the Delta check-in podium, and DH, looking slightly alarmed, goes to see what the problem is. He comes back with a Goofy-grin on his face, waving a paper at me! Pixie dust here at the airport?? Must be, we've been bumped up to 1st class!! What a nice way to start our anniversary trip. We've never flown 1st class before, shoot, I've never flown very much before at all!! We're excited!! :goodvibes

We enjoyed those roomy seats, and the extra attention, but now we're landing, we're in Florida, my 'home in my heart' and better still, we're going to Disney!! Now I'm getting nervous, though, because I've made all the arrangements, and what if our driver isn't here? We ARE about 15 min. early landing, and I've read so many horror stories about the car services. Was Quicksilver a good choice?

As we come off the elevator toward the baggage claim area, there's a sign with our name, being held by a very nice-looking young man with a friendly smile. He's Chris, and he's helping us find our bags, then we're led to an Escalade (DH is hyped - he loves cars) and I'm just happy to look at the eye-candy. Wait a minute, I'm on my 25th Anniversary trip, I SHOULD be looking at my DH, NOT the hot Brazilian driver!!! LOL

We make a quick stop at Publix for fruit, cereal, yogurt, milk, juice Pop-tarts (for DH)and bottled water. We find a case of little 8 oz. size bottles that we decide will be perfect for carrying in the parks. Soon we're back on our way to Coronado Springs.

Here we are, I'm talking with the baggage people while DH is tipping the driver, then we're waiting for a short time at the check-in desk. It is now about 5:00 and quite a few others are checking in as well. We make a quick phone call home, talk with each of our kids for a quick hi, we got here, it's a little windy we hafta go - its our turn.

Yuri gives us a big smile, welcomes us to Coronado Springs, and I tell her our name. She finds our reservation on the computer, and the first thing she says is ''Happy Anniversary!'' She asks when the actual day is, I tell her the 26th, which is Tuesday. Then quickly we're off to find our room, which is in Cabanas 8A, not 9B (as I requested because of Buzz's recommendation), but still a very nice location, quiet, just a few steps from bus stop 4 and close enough to the main pool area.

The scenery is breathtaking, a beautiful location, and again, I've made a good choice, DH is happy. We quickly unpack, put the food items in the fridge.

Our plan is Disney Downtown (as DH refers to it!) for tonight, and use the 4 days on our passes M, Tu, W, Th. First, though, we have to make sure the beds are in good working order. But to keep this G rated, that's not part of this report!! LOL

We get a bus after a short wait, and we're at DD. We shop and get most of the gifts for our kids so we don't have to think of it later in the week. It is so convenient that we buy several items, and have them sent to our resort, no carrying lots of bags all around with us.

Hungry, we need something to eat, and I'm getting cold, the temps are high 50's by now, and I'm shivering in my long sleeve shirt and sweatshirt and shorts. We decide we'll grab a quick bite, then head back to the resort and relax in the hot tub. But again, our plans are changed for us. BIL and SIL call our cell phone, Surprise!! they are in town, and want to take us out for dinner. This is our only night of planned relaxation, but we accept their offer anyway, hey its free food! They pick us up, and drive off-site to a steakhouse/pub, which was good, but they did lots of driving, and by the time we get back to our resort, its now past midnight! Tomorrow is Epcot, 8:00 EMH and we need to get up early. We set the alarm, request a wake up call to be doubly sure we won't oversleep, and crash for the night.

Next: Day 2 Space, Terror, and I don't Rock No More!

We were upgraded to 1st class once. It was a treat but I wouldn't spend the $$$ myself. Thanks for posting I'm looking forward to your next report.

We will be celebrating our 25th on May 23. We arrive at WDW the 22nd for ten wonderful days. I look forward to hearing how your anniversary went. Thanks for sharing!
