Celebrating 10 years together, a trip to Victora & Albert's

Hey all! I'll be posting an update tomorrow. Worked 2 12s on a new unit in a new hospital and my brain is FRIED!

Have a great Memorial Day! Be safe this weekend!

This looks amazing! My mother offered to take me here as my 21st birthday gift but I'm not sure if I want her to spend that kind of money :confused3

I am LOVING this :thumbsup2

We're going on Nov 1 for our 11th anniversary celebration. I'm sooo looking forward to it. We have never had an experience remotely like it and your pictures and descriptions are making my mouth water!
We're also going to try things we might normally pass...this is the place to experiment, right?

If not at V&A's where else? That was our mind set! Plus, they know how to cook things properly (like duck) that if cooked wrong would be completely off-putting (well, more so than other foods).

This is great!:thumbsup2

We are also going in August for the first time and we can't wait! :yay:

I hope you write a report! I'm sure the menu will be different then!

Seafood looks tasty!

It was SO good! Probably my favorite course!

Why not? It's not just dinner, it's an experience! It'll be some great mother/daughter time. Go for it!

Brioche!

BRIOCHE!!!!

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Brioche is delicous!
Butter is too!

There's a reason I'm a nurse & not a poet.

For those who haven't had brioche before.... this was light, airy, but had good tooth to it. There was something to chew. Oh my. I'm HOOKED! It was an herb brioche, served with herb butter. I might have to kidnap the pastry chef now & have him bake bread in my kitchen all day.

I don't know what on earth you'd name this round, but it was delicious!

I had the herb-crusted Ocala Rabbit & Sausage with carrots:

I ordered this simply because it had been since I was 15 or so when I last had rabbit. Rabbit tastes to me like everything fried chicken should be. I really do like it. That being said, I kind of wished that I had gotten the quail dish (roasted quail with Asian pears & Serrano ham jus) instead, because I've never had quail before.

Kyle had the Porcini mushroom soup with wild mushroom bread pudding.

Oh.
My.

This was pretty rich, and tasted more like a fall dish to me, but it. was. wonderful. It was all of the best flavors of Thanksgiving in a bowl. If you've had the mushroom soup at Artist Point, it's a bowl of greasy slop in comparison to this. (Well, I'm not much of a fan of AP's mushroom soup anyway. But still.)

Your review is amazing so far. Thanks for taking the time to write it. I hope we have an opportunity to try V&A's some day! I just have to convince DH to pack a jacket!

Beka, awesome report. Isnt V&A's fabulous? I had the good fortune to go twice for free, but that was over 20 years ago. We took my mom one of the times, and she got a real kick out of the placing of napkins on her lap every time she got up.

We (I) contemplated going back for our 40th anniversary, but my inner cheapscate won out and we ended up not doing anything :confused3

WE are going in October!! I currently have the Chef's Table booked!! I was shocked it was still available. Still need to come up with the added $$ for that!

Time to go again! We almost didn't do anything this year. I literally booked this meal the night before.

WE are going in October!! I currently have the Chef's Table booked!! I was shocked it was still available. Still need to come up with the added $$ for that!

It'll be worth it though! I think it'd be so fun to have a group of friends at the Chef's table!

DO IT!!! Beg, borrow or steal if you have to! Our wedding dinner at the Chef's Table was the BEST night of my life :cloud9:

Hopefully I just have to work extra hours to do it! It is just my hubby and I so not a whole group.

Okay.. not to hijack but.... I know your sister! We met up at Disneyland and we both booked Crystal Palace for October 14th before park opening!! Totally ironic we did that too!

Wow, I didn't realize how long it'd been since I updated! I'll post more today! This new job training is intense! I only get one day off at a time, and am expected to do "homework" on my days off. Phew! Glad to have a good job though!

This is a multi grain bread with rye seeds in it. Normally, DH doesn't like breads like this, but he RAVED about it!

I have to admit, it was quite good!

Australian Kobe-Style (kobe style? I just got that. Either it is or it isn't, right? Or can you only have Kobe in Japan? Kind of like champagne vs sparkling wine?)

From another angle:

The meat on top of the potatoes (I think) was shredded meat from a short rib. HEAVEN. BBQ flavor WITH potatoes?! I die.

I was getting really full by this point, so I gave probably half of my meat to Kyle. I know, poor guy, right? But it was good. I'm not always a steak fan, it's too tough for me, but this was awesome! Super tender, rich, flavorful. Yum.

Kyle had the Niman Ranch Lamb with Baby Tomatoes, Artichokes, & Olive Pesto:

I'm not normally a fan of lamb, but this was to die for. I mean, I would order this myself. It wasn't gamey at all! Usually, when I eat lamb, it tastes like it's growing wool in my mouth. It was really, really good. I recommend it to anyone!

We had the choice of a cheese plate or white chocolate gelato. We both chose the cheese:

Blue cheese, which was good, but VERY rich

Our favorites were the gouda & the cheddar.

We both agreed to coffee to go with dessert. The coffee was fine, but the percolator was cool:

Next was dessert. This is a most unfortunate course. By this point we were STUFFED, but agreed to try dessert. We weren't disappointed.

Dude. What the...? How did I live all of my life without this? Seriously. I love bananas. The filling was wonderful. Not too sweet. OMG. Can I go back just for this?

Kyle had the Hawaiian Kona Chocolate Souffle

He said it was very good. I didn't want to waste what tiny space I had left on that, so I didn't try it, but he polished off a good portion of it.

And when we thought we couldn't fit in any more food, they brought us this:
091.jpg

I only tried one thing, and while it was delicious, I was almost in a drunken food-haze. That and it was after 11:30 at that point.

They finished the evening by giving me a rose & us a mini loaf of orange-date bread, which we tried the next morning for breakfast.

I highly recommend V&As!

You.are.killing me!!!

But in the nicest way possible. :)

I adore your photos!

I will die with cheese in my veins. When some archaeologist digs me up in 3000 years, they'll be like "What on earth is this that is filling this woman's veins?! Cheddar?!!!"

Yeah, the cheese was good. And honey with gouda? :cloud9:
