Anybody own one? How do you like the frame and the service? I'm thinking about getting one for each Grandparent. Is the price of the service worth it?
TIA!
Stephanie

We got one as a group gift to FIL a couple years ago. He had no idea how to use it and we all quit updating it pretty quickly. It was a total flop.

Hi Stephanie,

I am sorry to read what RunningGirl had to say.

All I know that for 9+ years now CEIVA frames have been loved by families. We have hundreds & hundreds of letters, cards and emails from grandparents thrilled on how we help them stay connected and a part of their kids and grand kids lives... some are really quite touching.

Our frames have proven time and again to be an easy way for families to share the moments and memories of their lives.

If you have not done so already, and are still interested in CEIVA frames for your Grandparents... please email me. I would like to share something with you.

I read a thread here on the DIS years ago about a CEIVA digital frame (maybe 7 years ago?), and I liked the idea, so I got the frame for my father, who lived in El Paso. I believe it rotated 20 photos at a time, and each night at midnight it would exchange the photos with new ones in the account.

I was able to put pictures in albums, so it would take a picture from each album (or whatever I set it to), plus I could include cartoon strips, funny quotes, local weather, news stories, etc. The one I got holds up to a thousand photos.

My dad had this frame at work, and everyone would always comment on it. Plus, he got to see whatever photos of the kids I uploaded into the account. It was really easy to manage, and if this is something that might interest you, I recommend that you look into it.

It was one of the best gifts I ever got my dad.

I was curious so I googled it to see what it was & I don't understand....

What's the difference between this frame & just sending pictures to your family and friends over the internet? Just that the pictures get sent directly to a frame?

The pictures are sent directly to the frame, and it uploads them via telephone line (I think at midnight each night). So, everyday there are different pictures displayed. You can set the timing that the pictures rotate (every 30 seconds, every minute, etc).

For me, it was nice because my dad lived in a different state, so I could upload pictures and they would be displayed on the frame. I could change them anytime I wanted, and if I didn't add any, the frame would change out the pics so there would be different ones each day. I could also choose the ones that I wanted to stay on the frame and not be changed out.

So, with one frame he would see different pics of my children, me, other family members, etc. It was really nice.

I think Mary Jo explained it well. Just to add...that the reason I thought it was a good idea was because the grandparents I may give them to don't have a computer, but they do have a phone line, so they could receive the photo's that way.

I tried just the standard digital frame and while it's great...I never replace the memory stick so their pictures never get updated. I thought this was a great way to have both...the digital frame and updated photo's.

Well... Maryjo and Stephanie have done a really great job explaining CEIVA frames. THANKS!

And to answer your question... YES, sending pictures directly INTO a frame makes the frame quiet a bit different than the others.

Photos in an ongoing rotation on typical digital frames get "stale" over time. Plus, there are always new pictures being taken that need to get in a frame too. But getting the pictures INTO a frame can be a hassle.

Having frames that can have fresh pictures sent into them, from your own files or from any friend or family member, is wonderful.

People typically don't get what a hassle a typical frame can be until they have one.

If you have any other questions, please fell free to email me at ceivajoe AT ceiva DOT com. Thanks.

I have never heard of this until now. I wish I had known about this before I got my MIL and FIL a regular digital frame for Christmas, this would have made it a little easier. Oh well, I don't think my MIL has a phone line anyway as I think she strictly uses her cell phone.

We had one for my mother, when my GS was born, she didn't have a computer and we thought it would be an easy way for my daughter (living in diff. state at the time) to send her pictures everyday, it was very short lived, plus it was very expensive- I would recommend getting a basic digital frame that you plug the memory cards into, and just send new memory cards back and forth- Ceiva is expensive and their products are expensive also.
