we just put ceiling fans in our bedrooms, but of course now we are moving. We love them and want them in the 10 year old house we are buying. The new house doesn't even have overhead lighting at all so obviously won't be as easy an install.

Question is who do we hire to do this, and around what should it cost us? Anybody know?

My husband is an electrician and routinely does ceiling fan installations. He charges $150 per fan. This includes running the wires in the attic, installing the electrical box and support for the fan, and putting the fan together and connecting it. He checked around and that is what most other electricians are charging. But this is in the Northern Virginia area (right outside Washington DC) and might be higher or lower than your area depending on where you live. Also, most people I know manage to do this quite well on their own.

thank you! that is about what I was thinking it would be. I would definitely not be comfortable doing this on my own...so different when you don't have the wiring and everything right there.

Wow! We just had them put in all of our bedrooms. My brother is an electrician and did it for us for free. 150.00 per fan is way more than we paid for each fan!

catsrule - can I borrow your brother? There is a ceiling fan I want for the living room. :)
