This is the first year Cedar Point's had a security check before entering the park. The first was over July 4th weekend, when crowds are heaviest, and they've had them intermittently since then. Those security people don't seem to me to be employees of Cedar Point, they seem more like an outside contractor.
Unlike Disney, they use a wand to check your body & stroller, then they look through any backpacks etc you may have.
What I don't understand is WHY they only use them occasionally. People on PointBuzz (a fan sight) think they're training for full time use next year, but that doesn't sound right to me. You'd think you'd have them on light attendance days to train, and they seemed to know what they were doing.
I wonder if they only use them on days of heavy attendance? Or maybe when they've received a credible threat?
