Cedar Point Ohio

We stayed at the Breakers a few years ago on a trip to CP and to tell you the truth, unless they've renovated, I wouldn't stay there again if you paid me by the minute. Our suite was musty, dirty, worn and gross. We switched rooms and the 2nd room was as bad as the first. Staying off-site is a great call!

You must have stayed in the older stayed. We stayed at the Breakers in the tower section. Our room was very clean and not worn.

For those of you who have not heard the news, Maverick, Cedar Point's newest roller coaster will not be ready for opening day. It will not open till early to mid June. :sad2:
Get out! Cedar Point has a new ride that isn't ready on time?!?!?!! Color me shocked.

No, wait, Cedar Point's rides are often not ready on time. Then they open and close and open again. Then they close down for a while....

That's pretty typical CP stuff. :)

I hope I didn't sound before like I was trying to turn people off. CP is a great park and it is clean. It has great rides. We get passes, the kids get passes. We go several times a summer and the kids go all the time.

It just isn't a theme park with big architecture and cool stuff like SpiderMan or Mission Space, that's all.

Cedar Point has a great record with rides opening on time. Dragster was the exception, but when you take people straight up twice the size of the Tower of Terror and back down at 120 MPH things happen. The last delay before that was Gemini, and the blizzard of 1978 had a big part to do with that.

Trust me, I'm very upset, my vacation is next week and I am traveling all the way from Orlando to enjoy the Point, but it is what it is! I'm still going to have a great time.

I just have to ask, how many Disney rides have run behind schedule?

This particular problem, if you would investigate, pertains to safety, and for that I can wait, even if it is another year.

I was going to post that this morning, but you beat me to it. Hopefully, once the problem (three sections of track that have to be replaced) are taken care of, it'll run without any problems. :) :)

We're going to CP on 5/31; I wonder if they can get Maverick running by then? I don't mind if they don't, but it looks like a great new coaster. Whee! :scared1:

Not from what they were saying this morning on the news. It sounds like at the earliest, it will be up and running by early June. Sorry. :(

I talked to my travel companion, we're toying with the idea of going back in September or October for Halloweekends. We've always wanted to do this anyway.

It just stinks that I will be there next week sleeping literally feet from a new coaster that does not work.

Oh well, everything happens for a reason.:confused3

If you've never been there for Halloweekends, I highly recommend it. :thumbsup2 I would avoid the final weekend, just because you get a slightly larger crowd due to the numbers of coaster nuts who flock there for one last day, but the other weekends are really good, with light crowds, even though some of the stuff (the minor rides and many of the concessions) are not open. :)

Are the first few Halloweekends less crowded? I really dont mind working OT to pay for the flight, and we'll just get a cheap hotel in Sandusky, but I dont want to travel all the way up there just to stand in line. Seeing as I'll be riding all of the rides next week, I would be there mainly for Maverick and the haunted houses.

I've found that the first couple weekends are less crowded, yes. Probably around the same level crowds that you'll find the first week or two that the park is open for weekdays (e.g. before school is out). Then again, if you're mostly going for the haunted houses, you'll be fine any of the weekends -- I don't recall a lot of long lines for the haunted houses, but then, we've always just focused on hitting the coasters. ;)
