So we are planning on going to Cedar Point the second week in August for the first time. We were also thinking of doing the Animal Safari is it worth it? We dont know were we are staying yet, Is there any where else we should go while there?
Has anyone been to Dilly's Drive-In near the airport.
On our way home we are stopping at Niagara Falls any ideas for here?

Thanks any ideas would be welcome.

We went to Cedar Point years ago and enjoyed it, but can't say for the present!

We've gone to Niagara Falls twice and definitely enjoyed the Canadian side the best - views are much better IMO. Also, seemed to be more things to do (related to the Falls). That could have changed.

We live about 2 hours from Cedar Point and our whole family loves it. The animal safari is a lot of fun too. Check online for coupons for the animal safari. Also there are several places to get discounts on Cedar Point tickets, meijer stores all offer them. The best sale is at the end of July they have a Christmas in July sale online. Depending on your dates these tickets are usually good for a few weeks.

Thanks I will be looking out for the online sale.

Hmm never been to the American side. We were at the Canadian side recently and had an absolute blast. Maybe it would be worthwhile to cross the border for a day.

We don't have passports so we have to stick to the American side. I did not plan this very well.

What dates are you heading home? The Erie County Fair is in Hamburg, about 40 minutes south of Niagara Falls August 6 - 17. One of the largest county fairs in the country.

Around the 13th. I will look into it thank you.

I would avoid going to Cedar Point over the weekends if possible. You should check into staying onsite for the convenience of walking to the park, they have a couple resorts and new cabins. A nice plan is to stay at least 2 nights....enter the park on arrival day with a discounted after 5pm ticket, then the whole next day at the park, then a final day relaxing at their waterpark (Soak City) and beach. Check CP's website or Facebook for package deals with tickets/resort.
The animal safari is a fun unique experience, just be cautious that the animals come right up to your car. They will stick their head right in the window and get slobber everywhere. There have also been reports of them damaging cars with their antlers etc.
Another idea is to check out the Islands around Lake Erie. There are boats and ferries leaving from a dock near Cedar Point. Check out Put In Bay and Kelley's Island. If you are bringing kids you might want to avoid them during the evening due to the party atmosphere....but it's a fun place to take your family during the day. Check out Goodtime Cruises out of Sandusky Ohio for daytime island hopping cruises.
I would also look at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky. It's a huge indoor/outdoor waterpark. They also have an animal park, rock climbing wall, zip line, arcade, pottery place...etc.
What airport are you coming into? Niagara Falls is pretty far from CP. Around 5 hours I think.
Have fun!:)

We are driving from Mass you gave me some great ideas. :)

Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours is a blast. On the US side they depart from Lewiston which is only a few minutes away from Niagara Falls.

We just did Cedar Point last week and the kids had a blast. We had to change our dates last minute, so we ended up at the Sandcastle Suites (had originally booked the Breakers.) Hotel room is pretty basic for the inflated price, but was clean, so no real complaints there. Kids LOVED the park- we spent 2 nights there, with 2 full days in the park, and we could have stayed longer, especially to have a more relaxing vacation. We didn't know about the safari until the 2nd day, so we didn't really have time to get there. Our park days were Tues and Weds, and we used early entry both days, so we really didn't have any problems with lines or crowds, and didn't purchase the Fast Lane passes.

We did walk down to the beach the first night, and the water seemed really gross. We are used to the east coast MD/DE beaches, so I'm used to brown water, but this was worse than that.

It's been years since I've been to Niagara Falls, but the difference between the US and Canada side was astounding then. The only thing you are really going to see on the US side is the falls itself.

The Christmas in July sale was today and got the tickets. Thanks again.:)

I myself haven't been to Cedar Point in years, but my kids have had a great time there the past few years. Lots of coasters. Can't really help you there.

We've been to Niagara many times over the years & are considering a visit next month. The last visit about 5-ish years ago is the only time I have visited the American side, as Niagara Falls NY is a little sketchy looking driving through & I always thought most of the view was from the Canadian side. Well, the US side is sketchy looking, however the park itself on that side is very much worth a visit -- and the views are pretty impressive also. We still had a hotel on the Canadian side, but I would go back & visit the US park for sure -- you can even walk across the bridge & visit from Canada.

We went to Cedar Point a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it! We arrived on Saturday afternoon and went to the park after 5 which was perfect. We stayed there through Tuesday and I will tell you that I was surprised that the lines weren't bad on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. I did see a lot of school trips on Monday afternoon and again on Tuesday.

Can't tell you about the American side of Niagara Falls since we've only gone to the Canadian side.
