My dd has just completed her grade 1 ballet exam and received the results today. The teacher gave them out in a sealed envelope to open at home. She received a score of 77 which is a highly commended. She needed 80 for honours. She is my first dd to take exams. I have no idea if this is good or not and I'm curious. I had hoped for more feedback from the teacher. Does anyone have any experience with cecchetti style exams.

from what I read Passed with honours is very very rarely given

Cecchetti ballet dancer here!:thumbsup2

Yes, highly commended is a good result and your daughter should be very proud of herself!:goodvibes Honours are quite difficult to achieve. Is your daughter dancing at a recreational level? I'm assuming if she is doing her grade one exam she must be quite young. I'm surprised the teacher did not discuss the results in detail with either you or your dd.

Congratulations to you dd! :thumbsup2

Thanks for your responses. She is young. She turned 8 a month before her exam. I've told her that she should be proud of herself. Its just hard to get a gage on it when you don't know anything about it yourself. I just go along with it and do as I'm told. :) I was hoping the teacher would discuss the results with us so we knew what we were looking at. This is her fourth year with the same teacher but the first time the group has taken an exam. She dances twice a week although there was an extra class a week leading up to the exam.
