I'm here now and have successfully upgraded passes in the past many, many times. They are telling me that I cannot upgrade a 7 day no hopper Canadian pass to a 9 day with hopper. First they quote me way too much money (over $200 American) then they tell me, when I question it, that they can't do it at all.

Anyone else have trouble?

This has been a constant discussion and the answer you received is the same many others have heard as well. The dollar amount you were quoted is correct -- you first have to bring the value of the ticket media you have in hand up to the current price of the same ticket media BEFORE you can upgrade to the ticket media you want meaning you will lose any discount you received when you bought the ticket. They will never be any question as to how much we paid for these tickets.

Some people were able to successfully upgrade the tickets during the time period they were for sale *if* they found a CM who was willing to work some magic. Others have also been able to upgrade from the ticket voucher to an AP. Then there are a lot of people who have gotten the answer "sorry, no go, those can't be upgraded"

These tickets are a different beast from others and it's frustrating, sorry you've run into this trouble.

Thanks for the quick answer. It's incredible that I want to give them more money to spend more time in the parks and they seem to almost be angry that I'm asking.

And yes I'm being polite, as a Canadian!

Oh well. Lesson learned. Thanks!

If you don't mind spending the extra money they quoted you .. just keep trying at different Guest Service locations throughout your stay - - the cost is the same no matter when you do it -- day one all the way to day 7 it will cost the same. So try inside a park, at DS, at a different park, heck just move to a different booth! You might get lucky and find someone who is willing to hit the right keys :D

***ETA, I'm not sure what your signature means but if your daughter is a college student (ICP CM??) and you think you might be visiting her more, why not upgrade to an AP for about the same $$

I wanted to come back and give an update. We had success! We knew to keep trying, but the strange part this time compared to the past is the hard no we were getting. Just no. And then a rude hard no.

I was shocked that our success happened outside Animal Kingdom. And I got the bridged price, and did not lose my discount. We needed to get ot done quickly because we were adding hopper. The other 3 of us have APs but this was for my son who won't be back within a year.

And I had a Canadian ticket for myself as well that I upgraded earlier in the week to an AP successfully. I also had trouble and had to try two locations but with the second pass with my son it was multiple cast members that said hard no.

I should update my signature! I haven't posted in a while. Daughter #1 has done ICP twice, and has graduated, and daughter #2 is here starting her second ICP term. So yes, I'll be back! Just not with a Canadian pass to upgrade. :)

Thanks for your help! I was frustrated and Disboards has been helping me out since before AK opened, so it's my go-to place.

The good news is that there are CMs that can actually work true magic!
