CDG Hotel (advice) & just TGV it back & forth?

Hi all,

Finding room rates around the park higher than anticipated, would it make any sense to just stay at a CDG Charles de Gaulle airport hotel and TGV it back and forth during my stay?

Have you looked at hotel prices in the Val D'Europe area on hotel price comparison sites? Prices in that area are reasonable and it is only 1 stop down the RER line (about 3 minutes) to the parks.

That could work out quite expencive when you factor in your travel costs, there is a Budget Ibis and a Ibis Hotel and a few other cheaper hotel in Val d'Europe that work out alot cheaper than staying on site.

And there are a few more cheaper hotels in Bussy-Saint-Georges and Torcy, just a few stops away on the RER A train line.

Hi,

Just to say I tried to do this! However there was a French train strike on and the last tgv back to cdg was canceled. I ended up having to take a taxi back for €100!

However, even if the tgv had worked, I would have missed Disney Dreams each night. So I won't be doing it again.

For my next stay ive booked a very reasonably priced hotel in val d'europe.

However, the package prices for my dates have vanished for all the partner hotels (I got them mid-day, but when I tried them again later that night, there were no offers for any of the partner hotels!) I'm still holding out hope, but if we can't get a reasonably priced package, I might look at the Ibis and buying tickets separately.

I'm hoping the RER to and from Paris is reasonable for sightseeing there. I'm just hoping I can find a decent rate - without it, DH might nix Paris entirely!

The RER to and from Paris is a set price unlike the TGV. The best ticket to get is usually a mobiles ticket for approx 14Euros - this will give you a return trip to and from central Paris and unlimited use of the metro for that day

Depending on how long you will be there, an annual pass may be an economical way to go. You also get dining and shopping discounts that come in handy - the Francilien pass can't be used directly after purchasing (I can't remember how many days) but there are three different pass options.

I found the table service meals at DLRP much better value and since breakfast is often included in the hotel rate - I would have one other meal midday and use my annual pass discount which in the long run helped save on food costs. The TS options were much more satisfying than the quick service meals at DLRP - and I spent less on one buffet than I did on two mediocre quick service meals. That was just something that was different than WDW.

The Annual Pass (specifically the 'Fantasy' one) is the way to go if you want Extra Magic Hours and stay off-site. Plus, you may find you end up going an awful lot more than you imagined you would... I am one (of many I guess) who got it because it made sense for my 3 days a year, and I've now made 5 trips there...

The real question is - is there such a thing as too much Disney?
Or is a that a stupid question!
