Right, and what we've just witnessed this last year with government support of these vaccines is unprecedented, at least on the mass scale that we've witnessed. Especially with the Moderna vaccine. How long will the government pick up the tab for all of this?
Forever, tbh. Doesn’t even amount to a penny of the federal government dollar. The real issue is not cost, it’s that the majority of the public likely won’t sign up for annual boosters, which is not a big deal, IMHO.

You don't think people will need the boosters?

They will but I don't think most will take them. We will get somewhere between 60-75% to take the first vaccine, I can't imagine the % who will take boosters will be over 50%.

Oh, I get it. Yes, I agree....plenty will pass on any booster, further vaccines, etc. As for the virus becoming less lethal over time, yes that seems to be more likely than it becoming more lethal, but there is no guarantee. I've read a couple of pieces recently on this. A year ago experts were calling SarsCoV2 a "stupid virus". Not anymore. All viruses mutate, but this one has added a couple of mutations that have made it more transmissible and more lethal in the case of B117.

I saw the graph for Isreal's cases and deaths and they really have completely flattened that curve. But....they're doing that not just through an incredible roll-out of the vaccine, but also with a vaccine passport system. If you're "green"...you can go to concerts, eat inside restaurants...etc. There's no way that will happen here...because.....you know....freedom. We're the wealthiest country in the world. We have the best vaccines at our disposal. We have enough for everyone, including children by the fall. But nope, we're going to make it as hard as we possibly can on ourselves because we seemingly become more stupid with each passing year. And it's stupid....just for the sake of being stupid.

Wow, so I thought I’d seen it all, but I keep seeing new levels of crazy. Now there are people claiming that they haven’t gotten the vaccine, but they are around people who have, and are concerned that it’s the cause of a health issue they have since had. Like a miscarriage in the case of some women. I just can’t even process that and what conspiracy they think is happening? :scared:

Freedom means the freedom to make stupid decisions. If we wanted to ensure the best outcomes for everyone we could go the route to China. Unfortunately, it's very hard to find a happy medium, but I think as a country we can be very happy with the development and rollout of vaccines. The good news is they ensure the vaccinated are virtually free from any serious concern, so it's only worrying about others so much.

My Uber driver last week told me he was waiting "a few years" because he wants to have another kid and at 50 he's worried it will ruin his "virility in the bedroom."

Actually the updated reports are saying B117 is not more lethal.

This is why the MMR is required.

I saw that study. It's not peer reviewed. That's part of the problem with this whole pandemic....the rush to punish anything and everything about this virus, and a lot of it isn't peer reviewed. And even if B117 is not deadly in it's own right, it is more transmissible and therefore can lead to overloaded hospitals, which we know can lead to more deaths...etc.

This guy worried about how he himself getting the vaccine will affect him is one thing, but what I’m seeing is people worried that others getting the vaccine is affecting them, when they did not get it themselves. Like the vaccinated people are somehow shedding something (the virus even though the vaccine doesn’t have any live virus?) and it’s causing their issues. So now these people are not only going around refusing to get the vaccine, but they think those of us who did get it are the ones harming others. It is so baffling and ridiculous to me.

I get it but in the end viruses don't mutate to more severe forms. But the media doesn't discuss. They a like everyone else want to make money and scary/fear/sad tragedy's generate clicks which bring money. Positive happy things people read the headline and move on.

Pfizer vs AztraZeneca vaccine study

This study was conducted in one part because of the idea of extending the window for a 2nd dose of the Pfizer vaccine so that a greater population can receive at least one dose of (any) vaccine.

Their findings:
- one dose of Pfizer and one dose of AztraZeneca provided similar antibody response.
- however, cellular response is pretty weak with both vaccines. AZ vaccine still provided a 3x greater T cell response than Pfizer.
- vaccine helps even in previously infected people
- 5 weeks between first and second Pfizer dose is fine

Pretty consistent with what previous studies have shown and what we’ve been hearing with need for boosters. Antibodies will wane over time. Ability for body to illicit various T cell responses is low, especially with Pfizer.

This applied to people over 80 ONLY.

Wouldn't the cellular response be expected to be lower in a population the age of those who took part in that particular study, though? Other studies found fairly robust T-cell responses involved in natural immunity, though I haven't seen anything new that was vaccine-specific, but those were conducted on a broader cross-section of the population.

I just saw the same thing this morning. The hypothesis is that the vaccinated (AZ and J&J I'm guessing) are shedding not the virus but a form of adenovirus with the Cv spike..... so strange.
