CDC Notifies States, Large Cities To Prepare For Vaccine Distribution As Soon As Late October

There is no evidence that we have increasing reinfections or that the vaccine is not working, it seems that most of the rate increases are in places where they did not have as major or flare ups after the initial Spring surge last year. A place like Texas that is fairly wide open is still experiencing a strong downward trajectory. While the #s aren't great right now, the sheer # of vaccinations every day will keep this from becoming very bad, imho.

Half of the states are experiencing an upward trend now in new cases, and some of these states are surging to levels seen during last peak (and may even surpass the last peak at current rates). This is with vaccinations ongoing. Just referencing one state (TX) doesn’t invalidate the fact.

It’s been shown through various trials and studies, including in-vivo, that current vaccines are less effective against the variants of concern.

Let’s just hope vaccinations can speed up and more people accept vaccinations.

Well, here's the good news folks: a year ago, we didn't know if we'd ever have a vaccine. And if we did, if it would even work well. So perhaps this is a better problem to have.
CDC Director Walensky: "Our data today suggest that vaccinated people do not carry the virus".

Repeat this to yourself every time you have a negative thought about Covid.
So, no more vacations for you. We need you to hang and keep posting stuff like this.

The expression "it's always darkest before the dawn" has always fascinated me. It's entirely factually false- in reality, light slowly grows leading up to dawn.

But as an expression??? It's absolutely perfect. And here we are with Covid- we are absolutely in that phase. Do not lose site of the FACT that the dawn is next!

Not exactly the same. One is helping public health, the other harming it.

Private businesses requiring them is actually a smart move in my opinion. Many can’t afford the closures that come with an outbreak. And requiring vaccinations isn’t new - other countries have, as well as schools. But like you said, you still have the choice, so it’ll be up to you what you decide to do.

But you seemed to have missed the bigger part of it. How do you prove a negative? How do you prove to them you didn’t get vaccinated? It was a terribly thought out plan, lacking common sense.

It doesn't matter the reason. If you say that it is okay for a private business to make a rule then it is okay for another private business to make a rule that it the complete opposite of the others rule. I agree it is impossible to prove a negative but that is on them to figure out how they are going to filter people out. It is just very hypocritical to say that only the rules that you (general you not necessarily you) agree with are good.

I never said it was wrong. I never said they couldn’t. I said it was stupid and dangerous. That is a fact. I also said it was a plan that didn’t include any common sense. Also a fact as we all agree you can’t prove a negative.

The next steps:

1) it gets emergency approval
2) teacher unions push for students to get vaccinated
3) some parents push back
4) pandemonium
I don’t think schools can require it under EUA, just like they can’t with the staff now. Teachers wanted the opportunity to be able to get it before going back.

And parents who don’t want to get it for their kids, will eventually have to look at other education option like they do if they refuse a whole other host of vaccinations.
