Still itching to buy CCV but even just looking at the 11-month window for next spring (the entire month of March 2020) and there is squat for availability compared to every other resort. I have read about issues with studios but it really concerns me. Thoughts?

I just checked and there is still plenty of availability for a studio April 4-15 2020, 11 months out. March is a different story, but someone booking at exactly 11 months, or even a couple of days later, would have no issues right now.

This span is what brackets Easter Sunday. Points prior to this and subsequent to this cost 17/21 and 16/20 (Su-Th/Fri-Sa, respectively). That's a 40-50% mark up for Easter break at 24/28.

That week is anomalous. See the rest of the home booking window below.

CCV has a small contract/Cabin problem. Look for it to be resolved after the resort is sold out.

I hadn't considered that. If that is the case here, can I assume that to mean that Chrismas vacation week (December 26-January 2-3ish) will have better availability due to the premier season?

I actually don't know historically what Christmas Week has been like, so maybe someone with firsthand experience can speak to that. You may want to jump over into •The Official COPPER CREEK VILLAS & CABINS Owners & Lovers Group• and ask them there. @mrsap is uber CCV. I will say that VWL (BRV and CCV) is a totally different animal that time of year and you should probably assume needing to go Lord of the Flies mode.

I am a member of that group. It has been brought up before, and the response seems to be just get on at 11 months and hope for the best. I just thought I'd ask since you mentioned Easter week being the big anomaly in this case.

Thanks for thinking of me for the CCV topic and thanks for the board recommendation!!!! :flower3:

@princesslover - Wish I could help for Christmas, but we have not done that week yet.

However, last year and this coming November, I have booked Copper Creek for Thanksgiving and the week after, and I have had not had any issues!!! Good luck deciding, it’s such a beautiful resort and a MUST do for the Christmas season!!!

Totally agree!! We have been there twice for Christmas decorations, 2009 and 2013, back when I could take my kids out of school the first week in December. (Plus my daugher's birthday is December 6.) That was back before DVC and we were just staying at the WL resort. Now we are forced into Christmas break if we want to go at Christmas, so I am hoping that in the case with DVC, that gives us better odds than the popular first couple of weeks in December. I guess I will not know until the time comes!

I hope it works out for you! Because it’s still new, it’s hard to even look back at booking history. Hopefully someone who has booked Copper Creek over Christmas break can give you some assistance. It is definitely a goal of ours to try and stay over Christmas break. Maybe when the kids get older!! Good luck!!!!!!

I was able to book over Christmas week 2019 relatively easy, have since dropped them. I think people were so focused on the first 2 weeks in December that some rooms were open, but I was always on right at 8AM. However, I will also add they were still declaring rooms into inventory during this time so it could be likely that the new declared rooms added the capacity I needed to book.

I think 2019 and 2020 are going to be the booking years we truly see the patterns for CCV since they held back a significant amount of studios when it wasn't fully declared. This was really evident that each time they declared more points studios opened across the year and stayed open for a couple days (even days that were well within 7 months).

Thanks for sharing your experience!!! I agree with the 2019 and 2020 reference. Let’s hope for easy 11 month booking for everyone lol

We just bought into CCV last month and we bought a Guaranteed Week for Week 48, which is usually the first week of December (it sometimes starts at the end of November). Given all of these difficulties I've read about, I am very glad we chose to do that. Having to use an additional 11 points seems well worth not having to worry and knowing that we have the week booked (first time won't be until 2020, however). When we purchased, Week 49 was still available - not sure about other weeks.

Based on what I've read from others dealing with sales guides on Guaranteed Weeks, I would highly recommend the guide who helped us - I can give you his info (Ron Brumbaugh). He was not that familiar with GWs, but he was really good about calling higher up the chain and getting the correct info and getting back to us. Also as he got more info, he seemed to change his view on it a bit and saw the advantages (he initially just knew that it cost more). He's been with them for 28 years but was not afraid to admit that he didn't know an answer because it's just simply something that does not come up for them that often. I've read others just getting bad information from sales guides on GWs or being simply told they have to pay too much extra and it's not worth it. They are also currently selling December Use Years. When asking about how that would work with the overlap sometimes, Ron also got approval to have us switched to an October UY to make everything simpler (called us unsolicited days later to suggest we switch it because it would avoid any complications with the Week sometimes spanning two different UYs).

That week (Week 48) would be 107 points. We purchased 118 points and it will be 118 to book that week for us. However, if we choose to opt out and use the points elsewhere, we have all 118 to use. The extra 11 points seems well worth it to guarantee that the week is available to us.

That sounds like a great option for those who travel to WDW annually and for 7 days. My problem with that is that we typically go every 18-24 months, and when we go, we go for at least 10 days. (We used to go for 7 and found that it wasn't long enough.) So a GW would not work for us. I am glad it is a great option for you though, and I am sure it would be for others as well.

How do you think the small contract / cabin issue will be resolved after resort sells out???

He was alluding to point creep from the cabins to the smaller accommodation sizes. They tried to do it already with the original 2020 point charts. Not that I want it to happen as an owner at CCV.

Can any CCV owners weigh in on booking at 11 months in terms of availability (for Studio/1BR/2BR)? Has it been difficult to secure a spot? I see that CCV doesn't have the inventory of BLT or Poly or others in terms of number of rooms. Much thanks for any help you can provide. I'd be primarily interested in studios as well as a prospective DVC buyer, I love WL the most so really want to do CCV but find myself weighing BLT/Poly as easier/cheaper but then also acknowledging I'd have almost NO chance to rotate in to CCV at 7 months. Thanks for any help.

I discussed this very problem (no/limited availability for CCV 11 months out) with my sales agent two days ago. He said if I found I couldn’t book 11 months out, I should call DVC Member Services to chick. If nothing done, my next step was him. Part of the DVC sales pitch is the reliability of an owner getting a booking 11 months out (something about inventory MUST be there, and no similar intentions at 10 or 11 months out). So, go the sales agent and ask about solidity of booking 11 months out.

I am sorry, but he mislead you. A guide cannot help you get sold out bookings year after year. It is a one time benefit at purchase. One time.

Guides do lie. Because once you buy, 10 days later you are stuck.

Completely agree.

Those who intend to travel between mid-September and Marathon weekend should prepare for strong competition to get a studio. Due to the number of CCV owners who want studios, you will NOT always be successful at 11 months.

Those who plan to travel at other times will have better luck, but nothing is guaranteed except the opportunity to try.
