I think the best part is booking a studio at Christmas, so much funTell me all the good things about owning at CCV
Yeah no I sold it quickly was listed less than a week and got full asking. But I see how that was confusing.I had to reread the "selling CCV was hard"- at first I thought I took it to mean oh no you had trouble selling itThen I realized what you meant. We haven't stayed there so I'm happy to hear about the rooms and know about Geyser Point! We like to travel during Nov or Dec too so that makes me excited about doing that next year!! Thanks for the info
thank you for the reminder. I am aware of the BW studio issue. I am okay with trying for the P/G view. I have no interest in BW view. I am hoping at 11 mo we can find something suitable. Fortunately we're flexible when we can travel, but it is during the "busier"DVC times we prefer. I am also hoping with the less expensive per point/per year CCV points we can find somewhere to book at the 7 mo window. We are happy just about anywhere on property.I consider both BWV and CCV to be excelltent resorts, but both have an issue that you need be aware of, if not already, because of your intent to reserve studios.
BWV has a serious 11-month out problem. An owner of of a DVC Resort can book a reservation online starting at 8 a.m. eastern at 11-months out from date of arrival. Year round, the BWV standard view studios book full for any given arrival date within nanoseconds after 8 a.m. at 11-months out, and most members trying to reserve those studios right at 8 a.m. lose the battle. The boardwalk view studios do the same during the high DVC demand "fall" season at WDW that runs from late Sep to marathon weekend in Jan, and though not often, they sometimes disappear right at 8 a.m. during the other more "moderate" times times of the year. Moreover, even the pool/garden view studios can sometimes have that 11-month issue in some of the extremely high demand periods at WDW such as first two weeks of Dec, the Nov and Jan race weekends, and time around NYE.
Members can sometimes get what they want after the 11-month reservation period opens because of other members "walking" by. There are many members that "walk" to their desired reservations by starting an 11-month out reservation well before the time desired, such as months before, and then continuously modify the reservation to drop beginning, and add ending, days until they have the time they want. But getting your desired reservation can still fail and you have to spend lots of time checking for changes in availability to succeed.
CCV has a "studio" oversell problem (legally). DVD added those extremely high-points-per-night cabins to the resort and sold most of the large number of points for them to purchasers intending to get only smaller rooms, particularly studios. The result is that CCV studios can also have an 11-month out issue at times, particularly during the extremely high demand times in the fall season. That even sometimes occurs during the moderate season, although then that usually results in only one class of studios to be gone, either the ones with a tub and shower or the ones with only a shower.
I thought I had all our DVC needs covered with our two resorts at BCV and VGF. That gave us Crescent Lake and Monorail coverage. What else could we possibly need? Well, then on our first DVC trip we split stayed at AKV (savanna view was very nice, but don't feel the need to own there for access) and then we moved over to CCV. Oh my. In the first few hours there as we walked out to catch the boat to MK I turned to my wife and told her I think we're gonna need more points.
That sounds like a good strategy. The resort was really nice for sure and I'm glad we'd be able to get a "zoo-view" room fairly reliably as I'd like to go back there again soon with SAP.You don't own AKV for savanna access, you own it to be cheap like me and book a club level studio followed by a value/standard view studio so you can enjoy the club level for a full two days despite only paying for one![]()
When you book standard view at Jambo it essentially guarantees you either have a pool or partial savanna view. I've booked value rooms that have fantastic savanna views as well. If I had a DVC re-do I'd consider buying at CCV maybe or BLT maybe instead for SAP+ points instead of AKV and have a more beneficial home resort priority with lower dues but I'm not disappointed with how things shook out. We love AKV and we love club level especially nearing the end of a trip. I also see us booking 1BR value rooms pretty regularly in the future once things get refurbed. The point charts for those 1BRs are pretty sweetttThat sounds like a good strategy. yes ! I love snagging a 2br value villa AND a value studio. I have had those booking at the same time for our large family. You don't own AKV for savanna access, you own it to be cheap like me and book a club level studio followed by a value/standard view studio so you can enjoy the club level for a full two days despite only paying for one![]()
Hopefully this is helpful. I’d say generally CCV is more stressed during that time frame because of the holidays. However, that being said 1/2 bedrooms are a fair amount easier than the studios. Though I would book at 11 months exactly and I’d say your odds are better than not.For the CCV owners - I'm under ROFR right now, and I bought a 150 pt contract with the idea that we would do one 3-night, 2BR trip each year around the holidays. I've read about the studios filling up quickly at the 11 month mark, but do the 1/2BRs also fill up right away too?
I'm a newer DVC owner with a 300 pt SSR contract, but bought at CCV after lucking out with a studio reservation in May and knowing how gorgeous it will be in November/December. Now I'll shift to using the SSR points for big family visits / renting out, and making sure I'm diligent with our 11 month booking at CCV, but wanted to learn more about the timing aspect.
We own at SSR and often used our SAP points to book at Wilderness Lodge during Christmas week in a 2BR. CCV is our favorite resort at Christmas, but have stayed in BRV as well. We are looking at additional points and CCV is a serious consideration but we really want Poly Island Tower. So we are waiting for the point charts to be released. SSR is also a good base for Christmas since it makes it easier to resort hop. Christmas week is a resort our stay for our family. For the CCV owners - I'm under ROFR right now, and I bought a 150 pt contract with the idea that we would do one 3-night, 2BR trip each year around the holidays. I think I win the name derby on this
Agree with this. We usually stay at BWV one of three times- late August, Thanksgiving, Christmas/NYE. We have never had a problem booking at the 11 month mark as long as the view is garden/pool. Standard is hit or miss but we never plan on having to get standard. If we get it great. Its like getting a big gift. If we dont we are still getting to stay at BWV at times when we want the easy access to Epcot and HS.As a BWV owner the way I look at it is having home priority makes it possible to stay there with any regularity. The odds of getting what we’d like are much better than trading in. Not owning means dancing on your head and depending on the stars to align, especially for lower point seasons and stays more than 2-3 days -it’s not going to happen very often unless some compromise is made. If we strikeout at 11 months at least we’re at the top of waitlist and have 4 months to stalk before trading begins.
This is good to hear as a recent BWV owner. I’m hoping that garden/pool in August booked at 11 months will be ok!Agree with this.
