Good Monday morning All! Because I am a glutton for punishment I scheduled my CCA exam for this Wednesday morning. Taking an important credentialing exam the day before Thanksgiving is always a good plan ;) I completed my program in May but due to a crazy work schedule (thank you Phillies post season) and some life events I opted to wait until things settled a little before scheduling my test. Has anyone taken any AHIMA credentialed exams and can you give any advice? Does anyone currently work in medical coding/billing or as an RHIT (my next exam) and if so can you give me some insight into the profession? I have been active on other platforms but I am looking for a more candid take on the process and profession.

My sister just had Apprentice removed from her certification. She works for UPMC and LOVES it.

If you PM me your phone number, she said that she is happy to talk to you. She has the CPC accreditation, though, so she didn't take exactly the same test. Her test was over 5-hours long.

She did say that UPMC is hiring and she would be happy to help you with a referral.

She said it is all work from home and you make your own schedule.

Best of luck with your test!

Thank you so much, I appreciate any info/advice!! I PM'd you my contact information.

No advice, but GOOD LUCK!!

I take my RHIT in a few months. I absolutely loathe coding though, so I'm zero help on that one.
Thank you - good luck to you as well! You will have to let me know how your exam goes, you can forewarn me as I suspect the RHIT will be much more difficult than the CCA. Coding is not my favorite thing either
