CC Shark Picture

KYCruiseCrazy,

Thanks for the info.

It would make sense that I'm most likely to see a "common" shark. It's hard to tell from the picture, but I alwasy believed the shark to be 6 feet long. That would put it right in the middle of the range you listed.

Given how well this little fella blends with the background, I'm suprized you were able to get any details. I was just thrilled that it was good enough that you could at least make out the outline of the shark.

That whole photo gives me the creeps.:earseek: It's almost enough to keep me out of the water in CC (adult area)....but I'm thinking I'm going to have to kick my fears and go for it anyways.:scared: :scared:

Thanks for the insite:rolleyes:

LOL!

I got the jitters reading this one. I think it is compouned by the fact that this week is "SHARK" week on Discovery Channel. Did anyone happen to see "PRIMAL SCREAM" last night? Chilling!

to be afraid of sharks because they are so sensationalized in the movies, media etc. We LOVE to snorkel and have been many times and places in the Caribbean but I know that I would FEEEERRRRREEEEAK out if I ever saw a shark while I was snorkeling. Other scary stuff yes, sharks no. I have been fortunate enough to not encounter one and I hope my luck holds out because I don't know if I would get back in if I did. We just got back from a week on Maui and we snorkeled all over that island and never enountered any sharks. I know that most of them are harmless and that most shark attacks are just cases of mistaken identity but I don't want to be mistaken for a choice seal chop.

I know there are sharks in the water and I hope that if I do see one, that I'll stay calm until I can haul my a$$ right the H.E double hockey sticks out of there.

One day while snorkeling on the trail at Castaway Cay, my husband and daughter's friend had a close encounter with a 5 foot reef/nurse shark. This was on the "protected" family beach. It's the ocean people. I think if you can feel better going in knowing the net is keeping "lots" of the scary's out but that you may just run into a shark that snuck through a crack or the resident barracuda (can't remember his name) or other some such scary sea creature inside the net then that's the smart approach. Have fun but always be aware of your surroundings and follow the rules of safety in the ocean.

I did see it. Did you also hear her say that when she calmed down, stopped screaming and flailing around that the sharks were no longer interested and went away though? We aren't a food source to sharks. If you stay still or calmly swim away, there is no reason for them to be interested in you.

I think most people expect they will freak out when/if they see one. In my experience, people tend to be more awestruck when it happens. I've been in the water with many sharks, some big and toothy ones too, a while I knew anything could happen, I've never felt threatened by any of them. I feel lucky if I can get the camera up before they swim off.

I love sharks and my husband and I have both done the Dive Quest at Epcot, and 2 shark dives in Nassau, Bahamas.

Now, I have a great picture of me with one, it is about a foot away from my face. TOO COOL!!!!

I even collected a few teeth from the sea bottom after they were fed. They tend to loose teeth when they get into a frenzy.

At one point we were surrounded by at least 30 sharks! I thought I would be nervous, but it is true, they are awe inspiring and I would do it again in a minute!

Anyone that wants to see the picture, I figured out how to upload it and its on the left under my DISBOARDS NAME!

i would love to see your photo. where is it at?
