CC Rewards on vehicle purchase!!

We put $2000 down payment on on Credit card when we purchased our car. We negotiated the price FIRST then we talked financing when the price was already decided. We didn't get charged any fees, and we got the rewards points.

Never hurts to ask!

DH needed to replace his pick up truck. Found one, pre-owned, at a Ford dealer. Being ever-so-keen on getting as many rewards dollars as possible before our Sept wdw trip, I wondered if the dealer would take credit cards. DH said, "No way". I said, "Can't hurt to ask".
Asked and YES, they do! As many cc's as you wish to use! So..... first in line are the 2 Disney Visa cards, then 2 other Visa's. Had initially planned on paying for the truck with a check that draws on our HE line of credit, but will instead just write that out to cash and deposit in our checking and then pay off the cc's when the statements roll in. By "running" the purchase through the cc's, we will earn $420 in rewards dollars. DISNEY MONEY!!! :cheer2:
Not gonna lie, I was more excited about getting *free* money for the trip than getting the truck. LOL There is something very wrong with me! :lmao:

Most car dealers will only accept a certain % of the car to be paid with CC. Frankly, if you are unhappy with the car, they do not want to deal with the credit card companies. I have done it for used cars, though.

DH bought a new car in February and the dealership permitted us to put $3000 of the purchase price on the credit card without any fees. I'm sure each dealership has their own policies regarding permitting any use of a cc.

This is a "certified pre-owned".

Actually, this is what I was expecting to be told (downpayment only). Totally for the heck of it, I asked, "how much of the purchase can I pay with cc and how many cards will you accept?" He had to leave us and go check with the acting manager. Came back smiling and said as much as you want and as many cards as you want. This is a very large NJ dealership.

We found a dealership that let us do it. We used the ff miles from the card towards getting a free hotel room at disney

We bought a used car last October and asked during the negotiations how much of the down payment could be put on a cc. Every dealership said a max of $2-3,000. After the deal was finalized for the car, we were bought to a girl at the front desk to finish up paperwork. She asked how much of the down payment we wanted to put on the cc. We said, "$10,000." She put it through without asking any questions. Hope she didn't run into any problems later. Only got us $100 in rewards, but I was happy! :cool1:

I was only able to charge a portion but my deal was finalized before I brought out my cc. No fee or price increase. It read like the OP had finished negotiations as well.

Same situation here. I don't usually get the card out before I've finished negotiating. Charged 2500 last August for daughter's car and 3000 for son's car in February.

Lots of car dealerships accept credit cards, but there is usually a limit on the amount they will let you charge.

Yep. DH just got a new car and the amount they would allow for the down payment was ridiculously small. I don't blame them but we wanted the airline miles!

Update... Put the full purchase amount on the cc and NO FEE! $420 in free money!
