Help!! I am confused! If we have to prepay for a dinner but are on the dining plan, how does that work exactly? Do they charge your CC for the amount of the meal at 180 days and then refund it after you go? Thanks for any help, I'm new to all of this (obviously :lmao:)

Sounds like you may have it backwards, if you start with the dining plan you do not need to prepay. However if you switch to the dining plan after already paying they will refund you once you arrive.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't realize that. So that leads to one more question. We are planning on paying OOP for a few meals so we will be making more ADRs than what will be covered with our plan. Will this make a difference? Do we need to make the ADRs in a certain order to assure that the meals that require prepayment are on the plan?

If you are booking a meal that requires prepayment (CRT, dinner shows), you have to make sure that your dining plan is "associated" with your resort eservation when you make the ADR on the Disney website. That way, they take the cc as a guarantee and don't charge upfront as they normally would for those meals.

On the old website there was a box to check if you wanted to book the prepaid meals but use the dining plan. I do not know how that works on the new website since I haven't used the DDP in a few years.

You can also call the dining line to make those ADRs to be sure that it is done that way, or you can just pay and you will be refunded at the restaurant or show.

For your other question, you do not need to make your ADRs in a certain order on account of the dining plan. The credits aren't actually used until you are at that meal. You always have the choice on what meals to use DDP for and what meals to pay OOP for.

The only advice about order of ADRs that I have is to make the "hard to get" ADRs first. I usually have an order to how I make ADRs. For example, do BOG first, then Ohana, etc.

I just booked the Liberty Tree Tavern ( which in the past hadn't required a cc to book) but it asked me for a Credit Card guarantee. I'm also on the Dining Plan so I don't know what is up.

For Cinderella's Royal Table (CRT), I booked when I could, before I decided on the DDP. So we paid in full for that, and paid in full for the DDP, but will have to get a refund the day we dine at CRT. Some of the reservations are just a CC guarantee, not a pre-payment like CRT is.
