We are a family of 7 with 5 kids ages 16, 13, 10, 6 and 5 when we travel next summer. We usually stay at BLT because we like the living room size and third bathroom, but we love WL and are considering CC. How much smaller is the living room area? It looks tiny in the pictures and I'm worried we'll be cramped. Our newest son just came home that we adopted this past summer and he would love the monorail though we haven't stayed at WL for a while and think he would love it there too. I just don't want to be cramped. Thanks for any opinions.

The living rooms at CC are very small as compared to others. We have only ever stayed in a 2BR at CC, but lots of people say they have the smallest 2BR. If you still want to stay at WL, but don’t want the cramped living area, I would look at BRV. We have stayed at CC in a 2BR twice, once with 7 people and a second time with 8. We had a seperate studio for the second time for sleeping, but all 8 of us spent the rest of the time in our 2BR. We didn’t feel cramped at all, and on the contrary felt we had a ton of extra space as compared to getting standard hotel rooms. You should do whatever is right for your family, but try to take everything into consideration. Good luck!

A BLT 2BR is 1152 square feet. Most of the CCV 2BR units are around 1020 square feet. So that is a decent size difference that you'll feel throughout the unit.

We stayed in a 2BR lockoff at CCV two years ago. Five adults. The dining area and living room are narrow and felt crowded when all five of us were eating or watching TV.

Of course, what that means is that, if your room is 20 feet across (counting living room and bedroom), then the CCV room will be 6.5 feet shorter, along that 20 feet.

We stayed in a 2BR this summer with 7 people and it was fine. Not having stayed anywhere else with a separate living room I can't compare, but we didn't find it cramped at all. We only ate breakfast in room but that wasn't a problem either because of the huge table.

The DIS DVC Resource Center lists CCV 2BR as 1105 sq. ft. It could be wrong.
It lists the BRV 2BR as 1083 sq. ft.

There was lots of debate about it. But the size of the hotel rooms added together did not equal the square footage being used for the CCV villas. Having been in both BRV is larger in living area.

Understanding that DIS says one thing, Your First Visit is saying another, among other sources. I've found YFV to be pretty accurate on room sizing.

The original WL rooms were 340 Sq Ft, so a studio would be 340, a 1 BR would be 680 and a 2 BR would be 1020. There may be a few with slightly different sizes, mostly as the extra large studios ... but the majority of the units will be 340, 680 or 1020. No idea of how they pieced together the grand villas.

Stayed in a one bedroom at CCV last week followed by a two bedroom at AKV Jambo. The living room at CCV is tiny by comparison, and Jambo's living rooms are somewhat small as it is (also converted hotel rooms- Kidani's are larger).

Love WL and the brand new finishes at CCV, but IMO the living room is too small to make it worth it for a 1/2BR. I'll stick to studios for that one.

We've stayed in a 2BR at BLT 6 times. We normally have 4 adults and 3 kids (17,11,4 now). Last year I did 3 nights in a CCV 2BR with 4 adults and no kids. The living area is noticeably smaller. The resort is beautiful and CCV is on par with Grand Floridian with how nice the finishes are. But I would not stay there if traveling with our party of 7. I felt it would have been too tight a squeeze in the living area....especially when the living room beds are out.

Good info. Thanks.

We have stayed at CCV 1BR as we own there.. Not seen the 2BR, but the 1BR was good enough for 4.. Can't imagine the 2BR would be THAT bad. Besides,
How much are you really in the room? Say you leave at 9-10am.. Come back for a break.. And go back out and get "home to CCV" at 9-10 pm.. I don't think it would be that bad for the time you are in the room. That is not counting swim time/shopping/etc.. So, I don't think it would be bad..
Just my .02......
