CC 5K Questions

Could anyone tell us how long you get to complete it? I will be walking it but I would like to get a medal for completing it. How long do I get?

My first time I took around 45 minutes, and there were people behind me, and as far as I know we all got medals. This isn't something I would worry about. And, on the plus side, it's not a full 5 kilometers. :)

My husband ran and I walked. It took me about 50 minutes and there were walkers still coming in. Everyone gets a medal.

I'm thinking through this for my next cruise, too. If we run, and then want to head back to the ship to shower/pack a bag/sunblock, etc - is there still chair availability when we get back to CC? Assuming sold out Fantasy cruise? I'd love for DH and I to both do this, but wondering if he should hit the beach with the kids and I do it solo? or with older DD?
We were on the sold out 8/8 Fantasy cruise and decided to do the 5k. We left our sleeping children (15, 12, 10) in cabin. Since my husband ran, he finished and got us loungers in the shade by the bike rentals. When I was finished (50 minutes), I went back to the ship to get our children. We were on the beach by 11. However, non 5k guests also came off the ship the same time and all the desired spots were taken fast. Limited loungers and shady areas if you waited too late in the morning.

There is a "cut off" time where the Cruise Director staff member will no longer be at the finish line. I think it is something like an hour. But you can still pick up your medal if you are past that, they will let you know where before hand. But most people can manage a 20 Minute per mile pace. I think if someone can't hit that pace they really shouldn't be trying to exert themselves in the Bahamas. There is humidity and above average temperatures that can adversely impact even seasoned runners if they are not used to it. I also think that the CC5K is a little less than 5k, so that helps some too!

We did not participate on our first cruise, but plan to next month now that my youngest is 10 (minimum age).

Is that right? The minimum age is 10? For a fun run/walk? That seems odd. We did a 5k for Komen this summer and my 8-year-old loved it. I wonder why that is.

No one knows. Once rundisney got more involved, the age went up. Which makes no sense given the ages allowed for the paid 5Ks through rundisney. But it is what it is.

also, the Bahamas is hot. hot hot hot. The one underage kid I saw out there was whining and complaining like you wouldn't believe. I was glad my son wasn't running with me that day.
