DH and I both want to do the CC 5K run. Are the kids' clubs on board the ship open at that time? What about the club at Scuttles Cove?

The nursery is open. Not sure about the kids clubs. Probably not because a lot of the staff get off the boat to run activities in CC.

I'd like to hear opinions on this too. The meeting time for this is at 845 and the nursery etc doesn't open until 9, anyone had experience with this>?

I'd suggest talking to them once you are onboard. The nursery will be open onboard that morning - they may make an exception to take a child early for the 5K. The kids clubs will NOT be open onboard, only at Scuttles Cove. Again, suggest speaking with them ahead to see if they'll allow an early drop-off that morning. Seems to be a common question but no one seems to report they couldn't run because of childcare issues.

Enjoy your cruise!

I'm going to run it with my 18 month old in a stroller. .. hopefully!

Let us know the answer. I am hoping to run in may and will also need childcare for 3 little ones. I would think Disney would have a plan for this.

Has anyone done this with the kiddo in a stroller?

AFAIK you cannot due to liability reasons. Note that there's no shaded area or a place to rest (even if they have water available).

Can you walk/jog the 5K? I was wondering if my kids could do it with me and we all go at their pace?

DH and I both ran the CC 5K last year, and you can drop your kids at Scuttles Cove. The kids club onboard is not open (not sure about the nursery) when the ship is in port, but they do open Scuttles. We checked them in on our way to the starting point, and then caught back up to the runners before the 5K started.

When I just did the race on Saturday, we walked past Scuttle Cove and the CM mentioned that they would open in about 15 minutes. Also, there were some younger kids (8 maybe?) running it, but the Navigator said 12+. I think one parent waited for Scuttle to open, then just started the 5K late.

Hope that helps.

We had this problem last year. Neither the nursery nor the kids club is open early, even for this event - we asked! DH ended up not running so that I could do it. I think he probably could have signed up and then gone to drop DS off and caught up with us, but that might not have worked, so I can't say I recommend it.

You can run with your kids. Several people did it when we were there. There are jogging strollers on the way (first come, first served) or you can use your own.

Be sure to leave feedback about this for DCL - if enough people say something, then hopefully they can find a solution!

I'm glad to read you can run it with your kids. I wasn't sure since I'd heard the Navigator says 12+, so I have yet to mention it to my son who'll be 11. I know he'd love to do this but didn't know how much of a stickler the ship would be for age rules. Now I just hope he doesn't leave me in his dust! :lmao:

Just back from the Wonder today. Yesterday was our day at CC. There was a parent that entered her 11 yo in the 5k, then advised later that she was 11 not 12, but was a runner already. That girl could run too.
I know that one set of parents had their child in a rented wagon from CC. The little boy just sat there and enjoyed the walk while the parents pulled him along.
First person finished with the 5k was a younger teen.
I did not do the whole thing, my calf's were burning by the time we got to the water station so I stayed and waited with Jilly and Cally, then when my buddy came back from the Serenity Bay stretch I walked the second bike loop with her, then back to the ship. I did about 2.5k, but more than I would have done sitting at home.
