We plan to do 5K and are booked for Stingray starting at 10AM. Is this too early? Should we move it to 12PM? I heard that they are more active in the morning so wanted to do it right after 5K. We will be walking mostly and did not know if we will be finished early enough to get there by 10. Thank you!

Depends entirely how fast you do your 5K.

We walked it SLOWLY in December.

They started the 5K/clock at 8:58. We started after the second wave, at about 9:08, and finished at 10:14. There were maybe a dozen people behind us.

We have never done the stingrays, but I did the 5k on our November cruise. We forgot our photo IDs and had to go back to the room for them. It was my first time doing the 5k. When I got to the start (about 9:30) they thought I was finishing! Some of the faster runners do it in 30 minutes. 5k is about 3 miles which would be an hour at a steady walking pace. If it was me, I'd change the stingray time. I bet the stingrays know when it's feeding time! So there won't be a shortage of them!

By the way, if this is your first time to Castaway, you'll want to go up on the tower that you'll pass while running the 5k. I suggest renting bikes so you will be able to get to every accessible part of the island at some time during your day. Have a great time!

Yes, I would consider it too early. The 5k course and the sting ray are at oppostie ends of the beach. It would probably be best to take the tram from the 5k to the first tram stop and debark there. The 5k seems to be starting later and later. On my fantasy cruise in November, they had everyone sign their waiver and collect their race bibs on the island near the second tram stop. Then they walked everyone to the start line on the runway. Afterwhich the race finally began and looped once through the bike trail to the tower and then behind the serentiy beach cabanas before going back down the run way and ending where you signed the waivers. (This is closer to the official RunDisney course). The other concern is that the ship may dock late giving you even less time. But at that point you need to decide if stingrays have greater importance than the 5k. There is no financial impact if you don't show up for the race.

And also, if you sock or disembark late, you are going to probably start seeing issues as well. We had a late docking and no one disembarked before 10. They moved some people in early stingrays to different groups with room.

We did the 10 o’clock stingrays with a 8:30 docking time, 9 o’clock race time. We run it in 20-30 minutes depending on the family member. We had time to take pictures, change clothes, head to stingrays, figured out phone was left in bathroom stall, head back to bathrooms, search out customer service kiosk, find phone, then back to stingrays. There’s time.......but could be rushed

Walking = No. Running = Very rushed. Keep in mind it can be very hot and humid. Suggest you move to 12 p.m.

You could always do the 11 slot, then lunch afterwards. My concern with later than that is does the water get murky from earlier snorkelers?
