CBS Apologizes

The whole half time show was a waste. The streaker was better entertainment!

Janet Jackson does have a nipple piercing. I saw her talk about it on tv one day. Probably on Oprah. The clothing she was wearing doesn't just "come off". It was obvious that Justin Timberlake took it off even to me and I have only seen it once, it wasn't and "accident".

I haven't seen a good Superbowl halftime show in a long time.

Dan Murphy, I agree with you about VH1. Saturday morning we had VH1 on and a KidRock video came on . It was very, very vulgar and I am surprised they would run something like this. KidRock is so trashy. He always looks like he needs a good bath.

Maybe next year they try something a little more traditional for the halftime if enough people complain. We also watch the game with a group of friends and our kids. Since we knew ahead of time that it was being produced by MTV and none of our kids are allowed to watch that stuff we did a show-off-your-kid sports home video time at the half. I am so glad we did since they choose to put on something so inappropiate!

it wasn't a pasty..it WAS a piercing..

I just complained myself to CBS regarding that horrible offensive scene between Janet & Justin. I even thought the dancing was too much, let alone the tearing off of a woman's blouse/top, whatever....

Thank you Dan Murphy for providing the CBS link. I provided it to all my friends who are busily letting CBS know how much they opposed what they saw & most importantly what their kids saw last night.

If anyone missed that link Dan posted, it's:

(hopefully I got it right!)

It was intentional,I think.Beween the Pasty and the buttons around the area,I will not believe anything else.

I was offended from the get-go about the lip synching, but had no idea what was to come.

As I understand it, MTV lost future gigs with the NFL/Superbowl. With luck, they'll pass it on to Janet/KidRock, etc - their little worker bees.

I ended up being asleep during half-time last night, but I wasn't upset that I missed it when I turned on Headline News this morning. I was really disappointed with what most of the commentators in the media are saying. They keep talking about how you can see the same thing in a soap opera or other programming on TV. First of all, you would never see the whole thing like that on normal, network TV. And secondly, they were comparing it to a soap opera. I don't watch soap operas. I do watch football games, and it's partially because I don't expect to be too greatly offended by what I see during a football game. That was completely unacceptable.

The flag shirt thing was bad, too. An emblem of a flag on a shirt is nice and patriotic. A ripped up flag made into clothes is a bad idea.

A bath? He looked like a piece of trash.

Thanks, Hound and Blondie, I will have to see if we have Classics here, as the other is garbage now.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who was offended, or thought the show was inappropriate for what it was and when it was aired. For a nationally televised on commercial TV sporting event like this one I don't think it was appropriate to have a bunch of people bump and grind - and that was before the alleged wardrobe malfunction.

Headline News is reporting a quote from Janet in which she admits it was PLANNED.

To set the record straight. It was not a pastie. Janet has both of her nipples peirced as you can see on the cd insert of her Velvet Rope CD (her best IMO). The jewelry she was wearing was a silver tribal sun that fits around the n i p with a barbell going through the n i p. The intention (after watching it several times) was obviously just to rip off the cup of the corset (it has snaps so you can remove the cups if you please...I used to bartend and worked with strippers...) revealing the red lace cup underneath. Unfortunately Mr. Timberlake must have gotten a bit overzealous and ripped the whole thing off. If the original plan had been to shock by ripping the whole thing off, she would have certainly had a pastie to cover the n i p. Entertainers know what is allowed and what is not. Knowing there could be fines for a stunt like this I really don't think a performer would risk it. A fine (if that's all that was issued) for something like this would be relative, of course.

Anyone who owns jewelry like that has no problem with exhibitionism.

It doesn't seem like any of these entertainers have any pride as to what they'll do for publicity.

MTV is known for crap like this.

As far as the fines...CBS will be the one footing the bill. And the fines are a drop in the bucket to Justin and Janet.

It was planned.

That is an unfair judgement. Not everyone who sports body jewelry is an exhibitionist. I know I'm not. I know half of my friends and co-workers are not.

My goodness, why inflict that pain on yourself? You and your spouse/SO are the only ones who have ever seen it?

Never mind. I won't go into a personal debate with you. I will apologize for implication that you and your co-workers are exhibitionists.

She did it on purpose.

I don't think she did it on purpose, if she felt the need to go that far I'm sure playboy would pay a fortune for a photo shoot, I believe the scenario described by Samirella, is an accurate explanation of what happened..

I think it was planned...she has finally come out and said it was planned!
It is another way to get publicity...regardless of how tasteless it is and Janet has been an exibitionist ever since she "obtained" her "new" body shape. Oh, and BTW...her new album is due out this spring...geezzzz...

I sense a moved to the DB comming on. ;) I see way too much of this garbage way too often. This country is going strait to the dogs. I am concerned whether or not we will ever have any way back to decency. (Personally the phrase "Stick a fork in it!" is how I feel about the whole thing.) I consider myself very tolerant, but the use of these types of shock to gobble up ratings is bad business. It will come back to haunt them in the end. On the other hand, they couldn't BUY that type of advertisement for any amount. $27,500 is quite a bargain! And let me tell you how many families will be watching next year. We will all know where our teenage children will be!
And, it can't be all MTV's fault. Write to the advertisers, write to Viacom. Better yet, give generously to you Public Telivision Stations. ::yes:: With garbage like this dominating our media, it is no wonder our future looks bleak.

Still
Keep the Faith! ::yes::

Interesting article in the NY Post- excerpt below

"Sources told The Post the network will demand the two stars be tossed from 46th Annual Grammy Awards if CBS's probe shows the duo schemed in advance to expose Jackson's pierced breast during the halftime spectacle.

Jackson admitted as much in a statement last night, saying, "The decision to have a costume reveal at the end of my halftime performance was made after final rehearsals."
