I am staying at the caribbean beach resort in late august-early september, and i am trying to get excited about it. Please help with any good input on CBR.

Thanks!

I like CBR a great deal, but it has been quite a while since we have stayed there. You probably know that the resort is set up with different "island" buildings. There is a pretty decent food court and a sit-down restaurant and I liked their little store a lot. Our favorite buildings were Aruba and Trinidad I (which, if memory serves correctly, is a short-ish walk to the food court area; Aruba is across a little bridge). But the rooms are basically identical in all buildings.

I suggest you take a look at the CBR FAQ thread listed below. I also have lots of pictures of the resort on my website.

We stayed there a few years back and truly enjoyed it. The tropical feel is so nice and relaxing. We loved the hammocks by the water as well. Overall I think it is a wonderfully themed resort. You are going to have a great time!

You're going to love it, the tropical theming makes it seem like two vacations wrapped up into one!!!:goodvibes

We just stayed there last month 6/8-6/16. We stayed in Jamaica Bldg 44 facing the courtyard. LOVED IT:thumbsup2 Close to the bus stops and to the bridge leading to Port Royale! We enjoyed our stay very much. My 6 yr old DS loved the activities at the pool. HAVE FUN:wizard:

I just the the CBR! It has a very comforting feel to it! The food court is very good... haven't tried Shutters yet...so I can't give you a review on it...but everyone who works there is so nice. Last time I went to DW the buses were an A+! The guest services who work with this resort should all get bonuses too! Fantastic stay everytime! Love it there!!! :cloud9:

Sitting on the beach in a hammock it really nice too! If you like to read it is a fantastic place to sit away from the crazyness of your day! You also may want to rent a bike and ride around the resort. I haven't yet done this, but my roomies did and had a blast! I hope you enjoy your stay.. We are going Aug 14-20. If you have any questions when we get back (Or before) feel free to PM me and I'll try and figure it out for you or ask someone while I'm down there! :cheer2:

This is our second visit to CBR and we loved it last time. We're staying Aug 13-27 so keep a look out for a British family.

We were there June 10-17 and stayed in Martinique - we had a corner, courtyard view, and could walk to Old Port Royale in 2-3 min. We absolutely loved it. I loved the quiet, peacefulness and how beautiful everything is around you. The kids loved the quiet pool and being able to look out of the window (we ususally walked around the corner and stood on the sidewalk) and see the fireworks from Illuminations at night. We thought the food court was great, the rooms were clean and spacious (about the same size we had stayed in at AKL) -LOVED the fact that the beds were high so all of our luggage was stored out of sight, the searacers made for a fun afternoon - really wanted to rent the bikes one day, but ran out of time. We rented a car and parked right outside our room each day - we'll definitely go back to CBR next trip! Have fun.

This August will my third time at CBR so obviously I like it. Don't get discouraged by the reports of it being so big and so spread out. There is an internal bus to take you where you need to go if you don't want to walk. IMO, there really is not too much walking involved (especially compared to the parks) OPR for the food and main pool and the bus stops, that's about it for us, it was a round trip to each of these once or maybe twice a day.

Each "island" has its own quiet pool which we actually enjoyed more than the main pool. There was hardly ever anyone there and the kids were able to jump and splash without bothering anyone and we were able to relax with a book and not lose them in the crowd.

Hit the hammocks on the beaches for a nice relaxing night. There are playgrounds nearby for the kids and you can watch the EPCOT fireworks.

The rooms are typical hotel rooms, but we don't spend too much time in them. The beds are comfy although they are full size. I liked the open shelf under the sinks, it became a very handy storage area. Mousekeeping was excellent and we got a different towel animal every night. There are small dorm size refrigerators in the rooms. We never experienced any excessive noise or maintenance problems.

Grab a tropical drink (alcohol or virgin) at the bar and take in the sounds of the caribbean with the steel drum music and soak up the atmosphere, it is very tropical. There is also an island on the walk to OPR (can't think of the name) where you can sit on benches and it's like you're all alone, kind of romantic.

Hope this gets you excited!!!!!

DH and I will be staying at CBR for the first time in October. This thread is getting ME excited! :woohoo:

DH loves this place, it makes him feel like he is in the bahamas! They make great cocktails by the bar

Dbf and I stayed here in May and it was wonderful! We didn't actually spend that much time in the room (so much to see at the parks, so little time!) We were in Jamaica, a little bit of a walk from OPR, but it was such a beautiful setting that it really didn't matter. Wish I had had time to sit in the hammocks and read. Mousekeeping was great -- we got a couple towlel animals in the 5 days we were there. Oh, and I got so excited when I finally found the hidden mickeys in our room. Overall, a really good experience, especially considering I was kind of bummed about being there in the beginning (I wanted POFQ, he wanted CBR, he won because it was his graduation we were celebrating) I'd definitely stay there again!

Oh, and the buses were excellent, except for one day when no Epcot bus showed up for at least 45 minutes -- we ended up taking an MGM bus, and then one to Epcot from there. But that was the only bad bus experience we had.

CBR is our favorite! We love the white-sand beaches, the hammocks and beach chairs, the beautiful foliage, the boat rentals on the resort's own 45-acre lake, the 1.4-mile promenade walkway around the lake, the food court, gift shops, game arcade, all the pools and bus stops....and especially the Caribbean steel drum music overhead at Old Port Royale! You'll love CBR!!!

We love CBR. You can check out our pictures below. They are from July 2006. Only twelve more months before we go back.:sad2:

We stayed there in 2002 and 2003 and just loved it. Both times we were in Bldg. 44. The first time we overlooked the pool on first floor. The second time we overlooked the courtyard from the first floor and loved it better than the pool view.

Busses were good when we were there and it was just a short walk to Old Port Royale. Nice and relaxing walk. The sunsets are nice there too. Another plus is that you can see some of the fireworks from EPCOT too.

Most importantly just have fun. :cool1:
