We have an opportunity to go to either CBR or Contemporary hotel for roughly the same price. So, which one would you choose and why?

We have stayed in CBR before in Martinique Bld 26. It was wonderful!!!

One more question... After you answer the first question, how would that answer change if I through in Poly as a choice. I know it would be more money - but is it worth it or not. All opinions welcome. Thanks

If for the same money, Contemporary wins hands down over CBR, because:

1--Walk to MK
2--Two monorails to Epcot
3--On the monorail to Poly and GF and boat to WL.
4--Walk to MK
5--Much bigger rooms
6--Two queen beds instead of doubles
7--Walk to MK
8--Easy access to observation deck for MK fireworks
9--Rental boats from marina to ride on Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon
10--Did I mention that you can walk to MK?

As to the Poly, I might prefer it to Contemporary, but if I had a great rate at CR I wouldn't pay significantly more for the Poly.

CR over CBR definitely for location and convenience......

Probably depends on the price difference for Poly.......if you have that great of a rate at CR..I don't see how it can be beat.

Okay, I'll be the odd man out here. I actually changed my CR ressies to stay at CBR instead. I have stayed at CR before and it just didn't appeal to me. I've stayed at moderates before (though never CBR) and I've enjoyed them more than the CR. First of all we always have a car with us, so transportation isn't an issue. I really like walking around a resort in the evening and I felt the CR was limited for me. I LOVE moderate food courts. Not enough shade at CR for me and overall lack of theming. This is just how I felt. You may love CR. Look at the pictures and decide which one appeals to you.

Here's another "don't jump at CR right away vote". We plan to stay there on our next trip because my kids love the monorail, CM, MK, the monorail....... but dh and I know we are giving up the neat atmosphere of other resorts. Our very favorite is POFQ!!!! LOVE it there! We keep saying, if only it were a monorail resort.....

We stayed at the CR a few years in a row--get a tower room-facing the MK! We got our room bumped up for free one year...WOW! We were just below the restaurant, on the concierge level. It was amazing. We used to sit out on the balcony and watch the service vehicles come and go all night. No other hotel compares to having a monorail in the lobby. Have fun!

I stayed at CR with two DS' in 2000 and 2001 and they loved it. If you have little ones, I would pick Contemporary because (1) monorail to MK (and EPCOT), (2) walk to MK, (3) fireworks, and (4) Electrical Water Parade.

The Contemporary would be my choice, for a variety of reasons.... First off, Monorail, not to mention proximity to Magic Kingdom. Plus CR is a deluxe resort and comes with the additional ammenities of a deluxe resort. I also prefer the larger rooms with the bigger bathrooms as well as the interior corridors.... The CBR is a nice place, but I would prefer to be in a Deluxe if the price was similar.

OK, I'll ask the question not asked yet. How did you get a deluxe for roughly the same as a moderate? How rough is it?

I LOVE CBR. But if you had the option of staying in the tower at CR, then I'd vote for CR. There are pros and cons to each. Like the other posters have said, CR is all about location and the monorail. But CBR beats CR handsdown when it comes to theme!

I love the Polynesian resort.... so actually, I vote for that one, with CBR in second place, and CR in third (unless you'd be in the tower!) :D

Good luck with your choice! :)

DancingBear - glad to see we are not the only ones who think the walk to the MK is the single biggest benefit to the CR.

As for CR vs CBR - If you want convenience go with the CR. The theming (for us at least) is the pits (as my 3 yo DD asked last month as we walked into the CR, "is this the airport?") The location is great, though. I imagine for the same price as CBR you would be in a Wing. The Wings lack the sexiness and glamour of the Tower and could really be a room in any hotel, anywhere. The rooms are large, but the last one we were in REALLY showed it's age.

If you want to experience better Disney theming, go with CBR. It is a beautiful resort. For us, theming is a huge draw, and we'd lean toward CBR, maybe, I think.......

Tough choice. Good luck.
