We have always stayed Deluxe, and have opportunity for quick, budget trip before Christmas.... POR-FQ is sold out, if you had your choice, which moderate??? will we be happy at a Moderate?? it will only be for 2 nights, and i have always wanted to try one, which is your favorite and location of room?? thanks!!

It will all come down to taste. All of these resorts are nice but my favorite is CSR. Check out my CSR website below for more details and pics.

I agree, it comes down to taste. I have not stayed at POR or POFQ, but between CSR and CBR I'd pick CSR. I like the theme better, love Tex-Mex food, the pool is great and you're relatively well-located, sandwiched between AK, MGM and Epcot. So transportation doesn't take very long. I stayed in Casitas 4 in CSR, near one of the bus stops and the restaurants. But CSR and CBR are very similar in lots of ways. The big difference is theme and CBR has little beaches all over the place.

Moderates are not deluxes by any means, but they are perfectly nice hotels and extremely pleasant places to stay. You just don't get as many perks and the room's a bit smaller.

If you are traveling with children, I do not recommend CSR. It was themed for adult travelers and is not very kid friendly. PORS and CBR are both beautiful and very kid friendly. Just my 2 cents worth, so die hard CSR fans please don't blast me.

My top two choices (in no particular order) would be CSR or POR(iverside).

I've always viewed CSR as the most "deluxe-like" of the moderates. Being a convention property the resort offers a few more amenities than the other moderates. There is a nice full service restaurant, a lounge, and Pepper Market is much nicer than your typical food court. The pool is very nice and there is a very nice playground for kids (although the lack of a true kiddie pool is disappointing). We've always been in the Casitas (preferably Casitas 1 or 2).

I've always viewed POR (I still like to think of it as Dixie Landings ;)) as the best themed of all the moderate resorts. What the deluxe resorts do so well is immerse you in a theme and take you to another time and place. I think Riverside does a great job of that. The reception area, old man island, the mansions and strolling along the river at dusk, the seclusion of the bayous............they set such a wonderful atmosphere. The boat to DTD, now they have horse and carriage rides, it gives you some nice options. We prefer the Mansions over Alligator Bayou.

As for going from a deluxe to a moderate.............how much you enjoy it will depend a lot on your expectations. No doubt the deluxes are "nicer". However, if you view your stay at a moderate as a different kind of resort experience and don't expect it to be like a deluxe I think you will really enjoy it.

A vote for POR here. :teeth: We love POFQ but when it is closed, like it is now then the only other place to stay is POR. Friendly and helpful CM's, great themeing and a quiet, peaceful resort.
Plus there is the boats to DD, a nice alternative to the buses. :D

It comes down to the theming. We love CBR but POR is a close second. We didn't care for the theming at CSR and didn't like the mandatory 10% tip in the food court at CSR.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. CBR has the largest rooms of the moderates and the curtain between the room and sink area is nice.
