CBR Pirate vs Non-Pirate

My family and I (wife and 3 boys: 5,4,1) have stayed in Pirate rooms and standard rooms in the past. We really enjoy the resort and we can't decide which room to book for our end of April trip. (We started out wanting to book Pop, then we considered renting points for AKV, but we decided on CBR as a compromise)

Of course my boys would love to stay in the pirate room again, but I can't decide if I want to spend the extra $125 for the 5 nights. My middle son will just turn 4 on our first night of the trip, so we want to make it extra special for him. We aren't on a tight budget, but I can't help but feel that extra $125 will go a long way to buying a lot more Star Wars toys!!

I know the pros and cons of each room and location and it comes down to this for me:
1) If I book standard, I will wish I would have booked a pirate room.
2) If I book a pirate room, I will wish I would have saved the $125....

Which should I choose!?!?!?!

Of course, ultimately only you could answer that question.

But I will offer my two cents. Is it worth it, because you know in a few years they will outgrow it and on their next trip will most likely want to be closer to the pools and the action, etc.

Or would you rather save the money and do something really special for the entire family while you are away, since you have already done the pirate experience once before.

Yes, I know I asked a question that is impossible for anyone else to answer, but you make a great point! In a few years, I think they will definitely remember the Pirate Room experience more than just a regular room with extra toys that will get broken down the line.

I mean, the reasons we "invest" in vacations are for the memories, right??? I think you helped me answer my question! :thumbsup2

That was never so true for me this past year.

I ended up snagging free dining for myself and my neighbors, Holly and Alex. We booked two rooms. They have dear friends, who used to be their roommates, Dustin and Kelsey, and their two children who asked to join us. They were 5 and 14 mos.

It was the best trip I ever spent in 11 trips to the World. For once, the trip wasn't all about my experience, it was about someone else's. I bet I rode maybe six rides total in eight days, because I mostly watched the young one. But the wonderful memories we created will last them for years to come. It made me so proud that I could do that for them.

You are so astute that it is all about the experience! It's the little memories that you take with you.

With young kids, I'd go for the pirate room. If it were $500 more I'd skip it but for $125, I'd do it!!!

If it means a better location, I might go for it. If it's just for decor, I'd save the money!

Which resort has the pirate rooms and why are they different?

CBR (in the title of the thread). Caribbean Beach Resort. They are a premium room (you pay extra). As the name implies, they are decorated with a Pirate theme, rather than the Nemo theme in the rest of the resort. They are also probably the furthest rooms away from the main dining and retail areas and the main pool. Hence the OP's question.

I would go for it if the money is not a huge worry. I know you've been in the pirate rooms before so you already know this but... We totally felt "Disney" in those rooms. It was like being a little part of "Pirates of the Carribean" every day. Loved the atmosphere. We felt so special.

Thank you. Haven't been to the World in four years. Also, been away from the board. Need to get back to both.

Have you done the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage? If you want to save the money but still have some pirate memories for the boys, I'd be all over that. It will take up the extra $125 and then some, but it certainly is a good time My girls and I had a blast, and got pictures with Hook, Mr. Smee and Pan, some of our favorite Disney characters.
