CBR or Waldorf?

Hi! I am trying to decide between either CBR or Waldorf for a June or July trip. It will be a trip for just me and my husband, no kids. I like the skyliner at CBR, and this is also the place where we went for our honeymoon (we are taking the trip to celebrate our anniversary), and I also would like to use ME. However, the Waldorf looks nice and might be better for a trip without kids. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!

There’s literally no comparison between the two resorts. WA is MUCH more high end, the rooms and resort are very nice, but def geared towards adults. You will not find any Disney theming.

If the price is the same, and Disney transport isn’t a big deal, I’d go WA. I’d rather pay the $15 in Uber’s to get to the park than have to rely on Disney transport anyway.

That's a tough one. The Waldorf is nice and, while it's close to WDW, it doesn't feel remotely like a WDW resort - no theming, bland rooms, a bit remote from the parks. If you want to be in a higher-end resort and are ok with not being immersed in the "magic", the Waldorf is fine. We enjoyed it, but it felt like a resort that could be anywhere. If you would rather be in the bubble, I would go with CBR. Have you considered Swan/Dolphin? It's in a better location than the Waldorf and has a more "adult" feel than CBR.

Depends on if you want to be in the bubble or not. If you don't mind having your own transportation to the parks and the price is no object, I'd probably go with the Waldorf. I say that but I never stay off property. I like the bubble and using Disney transportation, good bad or otherwise. Truly just depends on how you feel about not being in the bubble.

Bland rooms? The marble bathroom in the basic room at the WA doesn’t make me miss the framed Mickey picture in the sad 90s CBR bathrooms. Disney has some great resorts, but CBR is a relic of 90s past.

I have stayed at both, as said they are VERY different...and it depends what kind of vacation you are looking for. Quiet, romantic, not hitting the park dawn to dusk each day, then the Waldorf is for you. Beautiful, luxurious but you also have what goes along with that..resort fee, need to request valet to get your car, seems like$,$ $, all the time, cocktails pricey. Want to hit parks each day and be able to get anywhere on property fast? CBR is the choice. We stayed at CBR in Dec 2019 and while updated, it still seemed old to us with the noisy air conditioner unit, exterior rooms, etc. but the SKYLINER was so great for hitting the park that we were so fine with it, not really in the room much except to sleep. Never moved our car from its spot.

I agree with what everyone has written. You're talking about two completely different experiences.

A compromise is staying at the Swan or Dolphin. These are more adult than CBR and have a better location that the WA. Possibly will cost less than both too, if you use AAA to get a discount and depending on which days you go.

The downside is that the main Grotto pool is surrounded by construction and noise at the moment. Since you plan to go June or July, that construction might still be in progress. It has no effect whatsoever on the hotel, but the Grotto pool is something of a mess at the moment; a big deal if you want to spend a lot of time swimming there.

Yes, the rooms at the Waldorf are bland. Does that make them bad? No. I was just trying to point out to OP that they will not feel like they are WDW at all if they stay at the Waldorf. Personally, I wouldn't choose either the Waldorf or CBR if I was headed to WDW. I've stayed at both and, IMHO, there are far better deluxes and mods and, although the Swan/Dolphin aren't as swanky, their location beats Waldorf's marble bathroom every day of the week, IMHO. When I go to WDW, my plan isn't to hang out in my resort bathroom if I can help it . . . If I want a great bathroom at WDW, I'm going for VGF!

Depending on how much time you plan to be in the parks, and which ones, I would second the Swolphin suggestion. Especially if you plan to be in Epcot a lot to enjoy Flower & Garden. The walking convenience is just too awesome.

I agree with what others have said - it's night and day between the 2. I also want to throw out another option - the Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs. It's new, a bit more tech savvy than other Disney mods , is in the Disney bubble and won't break the bank like the Waldorf could.
