DH & I are planning a 6 night September 2021 anniversary trip. We will be spending the majority of time at Epcot, Boardwalk, & AK. I would love to stay at BWI for the entire trip but I can’t justify the cost. The split stay would be the first 3 nights at Pop & the final 3 at BWI. I think CBR is a beautiful resort & the skyliner is a game changer.

Normally I would pick the split stay, but the idea of 6 nights at CBR since it’s the hub for the skyliner is enticing. CBR is only a quick trip on the skyliner over to the boardwalk and epcot and not having to repack mid trip is very appealing.

So DH has never been to WDW. I pulled up the old faithful YouTube and he decided on POFQ. Seeing as how I’m twisting his arm to get him to go.. I’ll take it! :smooth:

AKL is not as expensive as most deluxe. resorts if you do standard or pool view. You could do split with POFQ and CBR or AKL.

Yeah, AKL standard viewis definitely affordable. I love Jiko and really all of the dining options. DH is not feeling AKL for some reason.

I'm such a Skyliner convert, that makes CBR tempting now (I never would have considered it before).

But I LOVE POFQ. It is pretty, quaint and charming and feels like a little neighborhood to me. So small, there's really not a bad room location. If you are planning to go to Disney Springs, the boat is a plus!

Both POR resorts have been my top 2 moderate picks, Riverside then FQ. But we booked CBR for Aug. skyliner!

We chose CBR for our trip this summer. We've never stayed at pop (would rather stay offsite at one of the resorts that has FP booking benefits like Swolphin than pay a disney premium for a value resort), but have recently stayed at BWI and it was just okay; not worth the hassle of packing up midtrip to relocate. The room decor at BWI after the recent renovation leaves a lot to be desired, the clown pool is meh, and the counter-service dining is just plain awful. CBR now not only has a totally new lobby, the gondolas, and a great pool, it also is walking distance to all the nice new dining at Riviera.

I do split stays every trip so obviously I enjoy them. It's usually a night or two at a value or moderate (whatever is the cheapest at the time I book) then move over to an Epcot resort (lately Dolphin). I've done this for even as few as a 4 night stay. We love Epcot and HS and spend at least part of every single day in one of them. We drive down and arrive between 2 and 3 so I can't see paying a lot for that first night when I know we are going to head to a park and just come back to the room to sleep. We generally do the arrival day at either MK or whichever bus that arrives at the bust stop first. Then the 2nd day (especially if it's move day) at either MK if we didn't do it the first day or AK. Our thinking there is we have to ride a bus to those parks no matter where we stay (we don't stay at the MK resorts since MK is at most a 3/4 day park for us) so we knock those out first. As far as the skyliner, as long as my son is with me, we will never ride it. He is not comfortable with heights and claustrophobic, let that puppy get stuck for as little as 3 min. and it's not going to be pretty. We don't ride the monorail that often for the same reason. I may ride the skyliner if I'm on a solo trip but wouldn't stay at Pop or CBR just because of it.

We did pool view so we would be close to the restaurants, buses, and the pool. I loved the location.

We’ve done split stays a few times (usually to save money or because we wanted to sample other resorts). Honestly, I only find them appealing when we have a longer stay because of the obvious disruption with switching. That being said, if you don‘t have much to pack up and move, it’s not a huge deal. We have kids so that makes it more work. Disney is really good about moving you, so with just two adults it would be an easy transition.

Since you plan on spending a lot of your time at EPCOT & Boardwalk, BWI is a great choice. Being able to walk to EPCOT (and DHS) is everything. We love that resort so much. It was one of our best trips ever. Be forewarned that they don‘t have a food court, but they do have pool bar with some food and a bakery and walk up pizza window out on the boardwalk. (FYI- not as convenient, but Beach Club food court is a 5 min walk).

POP is a good pick if you’re trying to save money. We’ve stayed there twice. Fun, clean resort and now with the refurb and SkyL, even better. My suggestion with all things considered is either do a split stay with 3 nights at POP followed by 3 nights at BWI OR all 6 at CBR like you stated. I know that probably doesn't help, but at least I’m agreeing with you! So I guess you just need to figure out how bothered you’d be packing up mid trip in order to stay at BWI. I think it’s worth it. Have a great trip.
