We stayed at CBR during our last trip to WDW 5 yrs ago and I loved the interior of the rooms...so bright and cheerful. I don't recall much about the resort itself because we stayed in the parks all day and came back late at night. We are going in June and are booked at POFQ because I have read so many nice things about it. I just looked at room pics on Allearsnet.com and the rooms look kind of dreary. The pool with the dragon slide looks great though and I'm thinking my DS9 will love it. However, I don't want to be in a dark, dreary room and am thinking of changing our rsvn to CBR for that reason.

Am I crazy to change over to CBR or should I keep my rsvn at POFQ?

Thanks in advance for your helpful advice!

Although they are both nice CBR is a 10 and POFQ is a 6. POFQ is a much smaller resort and although the piped in music is festive - the atmospher is not as nice. I went there 12 years ago and I thought the rooms were very nice, but they are on the dark side because they are creating the New Orleans theme. The pool is nice, but if I had my choice there would be no comparison. The food court is better at CBR and the pool area and the grounds. The CBR is more like a vacation feel and the POFQ feels more like a motel.

Hope that helps.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. The rooms at FQ have been recently refurbished.

We love CBR. You might want to check out my pictures on my web site.

I'll put my vote in for the POFQ. I last stayed there in December of 2002 (and will be staying there again next month), and I didn't find the rooms there at all dreary. Maybe the bedding isn't as bright and colorful as the bedding at the CBR, but the POFQ rooms are certainly very nice (and will be even nicer since they are completely refurbished from wallpaper and carpet to furniture and bedding).

I love the atmosphere at the POFQ. The gardens are beautiful, and the streets are so quaint. I love looking at all of the decorations in the main building. It's so cheery.

I also love the size of the resort. It's easy walking distance to the food court and bus stop from even the most remote room. The two times I've stayed at the CBR, I've had lengthy walks to either a bus stop or the food court. We were in Trinidad South at the CBR once, and we hated the walk to the food court--it took a good 15 minutes to walk there.

Either way, I'm sure you'll have a great trip :)

We stayed at CBR last year and we like the pool area at POFQ better. The rooms will be a little darker, but we are looking forward to a shorter walk to refill our mug from Dixie Landing. JOKING!!!!.

I agree with stemikger. The tropical, "island-like", cheery atmosphere of the Caribbean Beach is much nicer and brighter than the themeing at Port Orleans.......and that REALLY adds to the "magic" of the vacation. :sunny:

If you choose the Caribbean Beach, try to request a building close to the food court and main pool area......that's really only important though, if you plan to eat a lot of your meals at the resort. :scratchin

We're staying at the Polynesian for 10 nights in June.......and of those 11 days, we only plan to eat 3 meals at the resort -- 1 at Kona Cafe, 1 at 'Ohana and 1 at the Luau (breakfasts will just be cereal, pastries and coffee in the room to get quick starts on the days). There are just TOO MANY good restaurants on WDW property to eat twice at the same place. The only exception is that we plan to splurge a couple of our "slow" days and actually eat breakfast at Kona Cafe (you can't stay at WDW without eating Tonga Toast for breakfast at least once  )

We prefer POFQ, although you can't go wrong with either choice.

POFQ is prettier, quieter, and smaller.

I had the same dilema while trying to decide on a resort for our Christmas trip. I finally went with POFQ because we want to eventually try all of the WDW resorts and I had heard a lot of nice thngs about it. We love CBR too! I keep second guessing myself!

We've stayed at both...~and this choice would be a veritable "coin toss" IMHO. The CBR touts a Bahamian atmosphere (bright colors, etc), with the music of the Steel drum band playing softly in the background. It's very light-hearted and whimsical. On the other hand, the POFQ is quite provincial. It emulates the period and design of the New Orleans French Quarter with precise architecture, food and music. It too...is an exercise in complete "immersion" of another culture! We truly enjoyed both resorts. I wish you the BEST and MOST MAGICAL time, whichever resort you may choose. ;) You truly can not go wrong with either of these locations. ^_^

ENJOY!! :sunny:
