Hello! Planning for a Christmas trip for 3 first timers. My mom, DD -10, and myself. My mom has low vision and difficulty walking. During our trip she will either be on a scooter or in a wheelchair.

Having the majority of the planning duties, I think I've narrowed it down to either POFQ OR CBR? Looking for any input to make the decision easier. Thanks!

I have stayed at both. I prefer POFQ. it is much smaller than CBR and it isn't a long walk to anything at the resort from any room. CBR, had a better pool area but the resort itself is spread out and depending on where you end up you could be a good long way from the dining area and bus stop.

POFQ is just cozy. we took my niece when she was 13 and she loves it. she went when we stayed at CBR a year later and she said if she ever gets to go back she wanted to say at POFQ.

WIth your group I would choose POFQ. I have also stayed at both and I like both resorts, but POFQ is my favorite. It si very compact, with only 7 buildings. I think the location and the transportaion is convenient and absolutely love teh water taxi to POR and DS. WHile I never pay for a view in a moderate, I woudl probably request building 4 or 5 and be in teh center of everything.

Thanks! That was going to be a question as well....how long is the journey over to POR? Does the same boat that takes you to Disney Springs Also take you between POR/FQ?

It does. The marina is right there and you just get on the proper boat. I cannot remember how long the ride is but it is short. The ride to DS is maybe 15 minutes or so. I love the ride, especially in the evening when the sun has set. You can see the Tree houses and they are so pretty. Before they were constructed you could see the old ones all lit up. They were really fun to see.

POFQ also has carriage rides in the evening. The clip clop of the horses hooves on the "streets" is really nice, but my favorite tiem of day is the early morning. I am up before the rest of the family, so I walk for coffee. The sidewalks are all freshly washed, and if you look at the shrubery that lines the Streets you will see little bunnies peeking out at you. There is a fountain by bldg 5 I believe, and it is a relaxing spot to read, or just people watch. Soft bluesy jazz plays in the background.

I'm the Mom in my group, and given a choice of moderate resorts, I would choose this quaint little resort.

Never stayed at CBR but have stayed at POFQ many times. There are elevators in all the POFQ buildings. As for the boat since last year after 4:00 the DS boat service to/ from either POFQ or POR no longer stops at the other resort. You can use the boat between the two resorts from 10:00am until 4:00. I believe there is a bus that goes between the two but we haven't used it. The website www.portorleans.org has resort maps and a lot of info for both POFQ and POR.

duh... now I remember the elevators. for some reason I couldn't remember them. my memory isn't as good as it once was.

We have stayed at both and definitely prefer POFQ over CBR. Especially if members of your group have mobility issues, the smaller layout at POFQ would be much better for that situation.

I've stayed at both, and like a previous poster, I'd prefer CBR...except if I was traveling with someone who had limited mobility. Definitely do POFQ. For what it's worth, they're both beautiful resorts!

I've stayed at both and prefer CBR, but like others have said with a guest who has mobility issues I'd likely choose POFQ instead.

POFQ with your party's mobility issues is definitely best. Straight up I prefer CBR but... I don't think this would be best for you.

Thanks everyone for the help and input. We went with POFQ for our first trip. I look forward to choosing different resorts on future trips. :)
