CBR or CSR?

I booked CSR for a few days in July. The major choice for us was the bus service and how great everyone says it is. We will be at the parks for the entire time and we've never stayed at a moderate. So, we really didn't have a preference. After much debate CSR was our first choice. The second reason was the size of the beds. For a lesser price, you get a bigger bed. :thumbsup2

We just switched to CBR as CSR had no rooms (well, except junior suites) available for our week. CBR looks much better suited for our 6 and 3 year old.

Regarding CSR, there are no longer "servers", no longer any tips or gratuity. It is the same as other food courts in that you go to the counters that cook the food you want to order. It is made fresh for you. They stamp a card of what you got. This way you do not have to take your hot food and stand in a line to check out while your food gets cold. You can sit right down and eat your food, then pay at the register as you leave using the card. There is a drink station in the middle of the room where you can get your drinks and refill them. The food is better than most food courts and if you are on the dining plan it's one of the best values for the QSDP. We will drive there to eat even when staying elsewhere.

good to know!!! the food is great at this resort.
IMO they have the best pizza onsite :)

All mods are pretty comparable. We've stayed at both POR and CSR, and will be staying at CBR for the first time this November. We liked both POR and CSR, but we found some things we liked better at POR and some we liked better at CSR. We found housekeping, transportation, and the main pool better at CSR, but we found the food options/food court and lay out better at POR (and also the boat to DTD). So, IMO, you can't go wrong with any mod.

I know there are tons of people who like CBR but I am not one of them. I very much prefer CSR. I have stayed at CBR twice and CSR several times. The bus stops at CBR make me crazy. I really thought there were 9. Even if it's 7, that is still too many. I hate having to ride all around the resort before heading off to the parks. Not a fan of the food court at CBR either. Pepper Market at CSR feels less like a cafeteria. DH was thinking we should spend the extra money this year and treat ourselves to staying at a deluxe resort. I said we'll see. I dislike CBR to the point I told him that this year if we had to pick between CBR or upgrading to Deluxe I would be willing to do Deluxe.

I did not like CBR much when I stayed there when I was a little kid, and I liked it even less when I stayed there last month!

Here's my honest opinion about CBR. It is such an intensely boring theme to me. The coolest parts about the Caribbean are the beaches and the nature, NOT the buildings, LOL! You can't really re-create a real Caribbean beach, so I just find it to be very lame. Unless you have young kids who really like pirates, I'd definitely choose any moderate over CBR.

Also, even though I don't use them, CBR has no elevators. I think that could be a major problem depending on how much luggage someone has with them, how old they are, how tired they are, or if they might have a disability.

Additionally, I think that a lot of the hotel buildings (excluding OPR) look kind of like apartments in a coastal suburb. Not that that's bad... But compared to the themes of other Disney moderate resort buildings, it's very boring.
