CBR info please... The good ? The bad ? The ugly ?

I think I'm the only person who hates this resort. Too long and spread out, and it just looks like a Florida condo where everyone has gone to work. LOL. A Preferred location is worth the money here especially if you need a food court (we eat in parks so usually skip resort food). I do like the location though (around the corner from Epcot and MGM) but that's about all I like about it.

But that's what's great about Disney.. something for everyone. If you see photos and you like it, then go and enjoy yourselves. There are really no bad resorts at Disney.

I think you've gotten lots of good information, so I won't add too much, but did want to say that we went last month and stayed for a week and LOVED it. It was so peaceful and quiet - we had a corner room on the first floor - we never had any outside noise - there were occassionally smokers sitting in the courtyard in the mornings or evenings - but no noise.

It was definitely worth the money for us to have a preferred room - we loved being able to walk over and get a refill in our mugs at night, 2-3 minutes to take ds to the arcade - and mom could stroll over and do some shopping, too - but not be gone long!

We, personally, only went to the main pool once - it was just too crowded, but the "quiet" pool was great and was never crowded. Not sure if anyone mentioned it, or when you're going, but the main pool is closing I believe in Jan. for a refurbishment.

Good luck with your planning - CBR is definitely a winner!

Thank you for all the info.
We were considering CSR - but are leaning to CBR.

We have only done deluxe resorts.
My DH is in love with the Dolphin - but I am convincing him if I can get a moderate rate around $180 with tax - that would be a $50 a night savings (we can snag the Dolphin for $230 with tax).

I like the idea of CBR proximity to EPCOT & STUDIO's.
One reason DH likes the Dolphin.

I just have to convince DH for all bus transportation from the resort, no closet doors, no balcony, and you have to go outside to get to anything in the resort.

We were AP holders in the past. Next trip will be normal WDW park hopper tickets. You need normal park hopper tickets to be able to do the meal plan ($160 for a family of 4).

We had DDE on our last trip. With the 20% discount of the DDE and the 20% AAA discount at Starwood restaurants at the S/D - we still spent between $160 to $200 per day on food.
With the meal plan - we would either break even or save at least $40 per day.
Our teen DS & DD will order steak and shrimp if it is availbale on the menu.popcorn::

So to get the meal plan we have to stay at a WDW resort.

In the past we stayed at CR, WL & the Dolphin (twice).
The CR wings do not exist anymore and the WL pool was just too small.
WL would be nice for just us parents once our kids are in college :rotfl:
Y/BC, Poly, BW & GF are too expensive.
We do not care for AKL.

POFQ & POR do not seems to have the amenties the CBR & CSR have to offer.

Again, thank you for all the positive feedback on CBR.

When I lose :wishtwenty , DH promised our family a week in WDW :cheer2:

We love CBR! My daughters, now 20 and 17, only want to stay at CBR because of the beautiful tropical themeing, the white sandy beaches with hammocks, and the friendly ducks. They love the main pool, and swim in it every time we are there. We also like the room size. Our group consists of four women and we need all the storage we can get and CBR definitly works for us in that area. We like to stay in the Jamaica section (lst Floor) and walk over the bridge to the main pool and food court. When the girls were small, we stayed in Martinique but it was not preferred at the time. We are leaving for CBR next week and it will be our fifth stay there.

I will tell you that I had the some reservations about CBR - we had stayed at AKL in 2004 and I was a little unsure about going to a Moderate mainly because the thought of the outside rooms turned me off - however, we loved them - it was so nice being able to step out of your room into a beautiful, calming courtyard - we could see the lake and at night the fireworks from Epcot. Not having a balcony was not missed at all. As far as the closet doors go - the closet is next to the sink area and can be closed off from the rest of the room with a curtain - which is great privacy for teens/parents while dressing. I don't think you'll be disappointed with CBR.

LindyN I agree with you. This is our least favorite mod resort. The landscaping does remind us of a condo complex in S Florida. We decided to give it another chance recently. We hadnt stayed there in years. Well it was a very disappointing visit. We did not like dragging our luggage up the stairs as they have no elevators in the buildings. The room was very beat up and in much need of refurbishment. It reminded us of an old Holiday Inn. We also didnt think the food court was very good and we were not able to use our DDE card for a discount. Truly this will be our last stay there! PO still remains our favorite and feel even CSR is better then CBR.

Thank you for all the info.

Personally, I would choose CSR over CBR in a heartbeat. The pool is nicer and more teen oriented with sand volleyball and a fast slide. Plus, you have the Pepper Market which is the best Counter Service available IMO. You say your kids would eat steak and shrimp? At the Pepper Market they can, for only a COUNTER SERVICE credit! Here's the menu: http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_pm.htm . I have had the grilled tuna there many times and it is top notch!

I like the idea of CBR proximity to EPCOT & STUDIO's.

CSR is just as close to Epcot and the Studios, it's just on the other side of World Drive. Plus, it's a teeny bit closer to AK and MK.

You can always upgrade your tickets to APs once you get there. If you return again within the year and want to have the dining plan, you can book your room with only one-day one-park passes which you can upgrade at a later time. Another option would be to rent DVC points at one of the DVC resorts. The going rate is about $11-$12 per point and there is no pass requirement for ordering the DDP. You would get your balcony and closet door, as well as a microwave and toaster, LOL. Look here for DVC rentals: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29
