I am booked in a king room at CBR with free dining. I much prefer a 2 bedded room, but for our dates with FD the only available rooms are king and pirate. There are water view rooms with 2 beds available for our dates, just not with FD.
We want to stick with CBR since we are doing the Wine and Dine 1/2 marathon and that is the only mod that includes event transportation. I can get FD and 2 beds over at POR for my dates-Nov.9-12.

I hesitate to upgrade to a pirate room at this point since I don't care for sleeping on just a mattress w/o the bed spring. But, I am considering upgrading to the pirate room and hoping that at check in we can get a standard 2 bedded room thereby allowing CBR to upgrade a family to the pirate room. I don't care about the difference in price. We are 2 nearly 50 year old women who just want our own comfy beds...

What do you guys think? Thanks! :goodvibes

If you want the sure thing, go with POR. It's been recently renovated so the beds will be new and it sounds like comfort is a priority for you. You will just have to figure out other transportation to your events. YOu could consider renting a car just for a few days? You could also keep checking back with WDW to see if a room opens up. There are bound to be some last minute cancellations and it is possible you can snag one of those rooms. Lastly, what are the Value and Deluxe options with transportation?

You can also keep calling back. One year, I was only able to get preferred for 1 of my 4 rooms I needed at a resort, and I called back a week later and was able to downgrade. pixiedust:

We had a Pirate room a few weeks ago, and i thought the bed was VERY comfortable. I was quite surprised.

If you really want to stay at CBR, I would keep checking as people cancel all the time and you never know when a standard room might become available. Many times I have booked with discounts and later wanted to add a night or two or change my room type and while what I wanted wasn't available right away, I would keep checking and in the end have always gotten exactly what I wanted. Good luck :wizard:.

Thanks for the responses! :goodvibes

At the moment, car rental is a bit high, it would make more sense to take a cab when we need to.

I think we can stay at any of the All Stars with event transportation. Boardwalk and Beach Club are the deluxes which would be nice, but more than we are willing to spend...

I will keep calling to see if a 2 bed opens up... Thanks for that input about the beds, Herbie! I may just take my chances. But really, I am thinking that another family may like that bit of pixie dust...I often see threads about chances of getting upgraded, etc.......

We love CBR! We have stayed in both a pirate room and a standard king. I didn't think either bed was uncomfortable at all. Even though I know some have complained about the pirate beds we never had any problems. I really don't think you'd have a problems either way, so I guess it would come down to personal preference.
Here is a basic room comparison between the standards and pirates:
Size- Even though I believe they are the same size, the pirate rooms appear a little smaller in size (I think it is because of the 2 beds vs the one king and the color scheme).
Brightness- The standards are bright and colorful, the pirate rooms are a little darker.
Theme- The pirate rooms are very "themey", the pirate theme carries through throughout the entire room. The standard rooms are more of a Caribbean theme with a hint of Finding Nemo. The room decor is very colorful and gives the Caribbean vibe, finding Nemo characters can be found on the bedspread and the wall boarder.

Have fun whatever you decide!

We have stayed CBR 2 years in a row. We love it there. They have always been able to accomidate our changes. Believe me we have changes... The beds are pretty comfy and usually you are not going to have any problem getting a room change. They are very good accomidating to what you want/need. Good luck and have a great stay which ever you choose :O)

You have to go back and read her post again; she has free dining and is trying to snag a different room category and keep her free dining.

Not all resorts and all room categories are available with promos; those are done to fill rooms. If a room category is near capacity, there is no reason to offer a promo on it. You have to keep your fingers crossed and hope enough people cancel and they offer a promo on it.

You cannot pick and choose where and when you stay on promos, sometimes you have to have a fallback position, as the OP stated, with POR.

Hope that helps.
