CBR - Does this seem to be the main problem?

Size of resort and too much walking to get to OPR/main pool? We're going in May (just husband and myself) and staying at CBR. Please correct if I'm wrong, but that seems to be the main issue about this resort. So if we LOVE the theming, have our own car with us, it doesn't bother us to walk back and forth from our room to OPR/main pool, and don't really care if the food court is good or not, are there other issues we should be concerned about? Thanks. :goodvibes

We were just there in October and the only villiage that I felt was too far away from the food court and main pool is Trinidad South. The first morning there I didn't have my bearings on where I was and thought the only way to get to the food court was to walk around the roadway on the outside of the villages rather that walking through the buildings to get to the walkway around the lake. So I waited for the internal bus. Later on I did a huge "DUH" :rotfl2: I didn't think the resort was as big as some people feel. And we enjoyed ourselves.

You will have a great time at CBR. Some people aren't bothered by the size of the resort.

It's my favorite mod! I love it there. (And it doesnt' seem to me to be 'bigger' then CSR, or PO)

With minor exception, the moderates all do that balancing act between price and being spread out.

If this resort appeals to you, go for it! I know before our stay at POR a friend told me, don't stay there, if they stick you in an outlying building you will hate it, the moderates are ridiculously spread out, blah, blah, blah. Well, we were in the furthest building and loved it. It was not Chinese torture to stroll along beautiful grounds to go swim in a lovely pool!

P.S. Come to think of it we have been put in the "less desirable" areas of most every WDW resort we have stayed in (always take arrive past 10:00 p.m.) and loved each stay. Your attitude will serve you well I am sure.

Thanks all! I'm sure there are "problems" at all of 'em! I was just second-guessing our choice - but I think we will absolutely love the atmosphere there so I'm going to quit worrying about it!

We'll be there in two weeks! I was a little apprehensive about the size as well but to be honest I'm just happy to be going during holiday time with the kids! We have stayed at all the All-Stars, POFQ and BCV and have visited CSR, POR and SSR (our DVC home resort.) I am looking forward to CBR because I have always wanted to stay there!- I finally got my way. The way I figure it is, that you do a lot of walking in WDW anyway so what's the problem? WDW is massive! I did request and pay for a preferred room near the OPR just because we are getting in very late (close to Midnight) and I will have three very tired little boys in tow, four if you count DH! But I am so looking forward to it. I just got off the phone with a CM and she said it has been in the 80's! How great is that?!

I don't think you'll find CBR to be too big -- just enjoy the atmosphere! We did!

You could always ask for a room in a "preferred location" which is Trinidad North and martinique. These buildings are on each side of OPR..A nice short walk to OPR. There is a small additional charge for these locations.

The preferred locations cost $15 extra nightly. Sometimes you may receive some pixie dust and be assigned there but it doesn't happen often.

We leave for the CBR in 7 days( ), it will be our first time staying there. No matter what I am glad to be staying at a moderate, during the holiday season, and with my family-it's all good!

and LOVED CBR!! We did stay in the preferred rooms but it was well worth the short walks. Buses were great to get around, rooms were a good size with 4 people ( me, DH< DS15 and DS12) The boys loved the sea racers and the beaches. We were able to see Epcot fireworks right from hotel balcony! Very calm and mellow feel to the place, great after the busy parks! I think you will love it!

We stayed at CBR a couple years ago. Our first trip to WDW. I think we had to be in the furthest building from the Food Court/Main Pool. I didn't think it was that bad of a walk to the Main building and we had a smaller pool right outside our building. I could practically see the kids from the room. We never bothered with the main pool. What bothered us more about the resort was everytime you took the bus anywhere it stopped at all the different "countries" we kept trying to figure out a way to avoid that but couldn't. Seemed like we used alot of time with transportation. We prefer to have a car and be on our own schedule.
