We are trying to decide between the 4 resorts and I have a 7 yr old boy, a 9 yr old girl and us and I'm looking for advice. Do any of these have queen beds in the standard rooms? We will be going mid November and have no water park passes so I want a fun place so that on our off day the kids can play in the pools and stuff. Any advice? pixiedust:

I can only speak from 3 of your choices...CSR, POR and POFQ....

CSR and POR are huge sprawling resorts with multiple internal bus depots.... We didn't care for either, especially CSR and its food set up...

POFQ, compact, small resort... More likable theme and sisters to POR so you can visit ( pleasant walk ) and use their pool on some off day... We make it a picnic day and walk over but you can boat over too...

All of them have Queen Beds in the Standard rooms except for CBR. I think it all boils down to theme preference.
Do you prefer a carribean theme?(CBR)
Southwest?(CSR)
Woodsy-(POR) Aligator Bayou
Plantation-(POR) Mansions?
New Orleans? (FQ)

Our favorite is POR -AB

If pools and such are important to you for the kids, I would go with POR or POFQ. These resorts are right next to each other and you can use either pool which means the kids have access to two waterslide pools, which is always more fun than only having one really cool pool to go to.

I really like the pirate theme of CBR but they are going to be going through refurbishment in 2014, their rooms are in need of an update apparently :) We didn't want to be there during construction or get a room that is in need of updating. Our next disney trip we plan to stay at CBR and check it out :)

CSR just sounds too spread out to me.

Our family chose POR for our mardi gras vacation this coming up March. Staying in POFQ just looks too much like staying in New Orleans, where we normally live. The POR theme looks more interesting for my son.

But if you were not used to being in the French Quarter in New Orleans a lot, staying at the POFQ would give you the best of all worlds, queen size bed, 2 waterslide pools to use, boats to DTD, and the resort is fairly compact so its not far to walk to the busstop or food court.

Those are just my opinions and reasoning behind them, however convoluted! :)

We stayed at POP last time and that was fun. I'd like some theming but mainly just want a nice stay that's not too big with too much walking to get to the bus stops and to eat. My in-laws are coming with us too and will have their own room so something that will be good for them too. So I guess that takes CSR and CBR out, but their pools look like tons of fun. If the pools at POR or POFQ are comparably fun then I'd be happy with either of those!

We chose CSR for this trip (May 2014) because my parents will be joining our family and all three of our boys thought the pool/slide looked amazing ( two 7 year olds and a 10 year old) and we wanted Business Class for conv. for my parents.

We have stayed in 3 of the 4 but have used the 4th amenities.

CBR - They have double beds, there are pirate themed rooms ( upcharge for these rooms, ) The have what we think is the best themed pool, who doesn't loves pirates !!! They also have quite pool which is a nice choice for relaxing. There food court is good and has lots to choose from and lots of space for eating. Also there is a TS restaurant on site, we have not eaten here in years, so really can't speak to how it is now.
Large resorts, with lots of bus stop but also they have a internal bus. That just makes the loop. We love the court yards with seating, nice place to grab a quick breakfast or cocktail in the evenings. Have stayed here several times, and would so again.

CSR - Queen size beds, This is a convention hotel, and does have that feel. Just not as Disney as we like, The pool area is nice, a bit spread out, the slide here is great. Food court we would consider this our least favorite as the options are not to our liking. Large resort, not our favorite lay out.

POFQ - This is our favorite mod. We just love everything about this resorts, The food court is our favorite for resorts, lots of choice we really love. Pool is nice, it is spread out with seating though. Boat to DTD, is wonderful and offer a nice evening, and other dinning options. Queen beds here, we love to stay facing the river, and enjoy strolling over to POR - one bus stop easy to get to. Very small resort compared to the others.

POR - We have never stayed here, but have used the pool Ole man Island and food court both wonderful and have used the boat to DTD and back POFQ.

Hope this helps :)pixiedust:

Oh and we live in the woods so the woodsy theme we could pass on!

It sounds like POFQ is your best bet then ... The nice thing about it is you can use the pool at POR if you dont like the one at POFQ :thumbsup2

I have stayed at 3 of the resorts that you are inquiring about. CBR doesn't have queen beds. This is my least favorite resort on Disney property. It's mega huge, and the theming just doesn't appeal to me. However, I live in Florida so I'm lucky enough to see tropical theming every time I go to the beach. I would imagine someone from New Orleans may not want to stay at POFQ for the same reason. ;)

POR, and POFQ are just beautiful and have queen beds. POR is large, but I found it easier to walk and find my way than CBR. I especially enjoyed the boat ride to DTD.
Good luck!!!pixiedust:pixiedust:
