I am trying to decide between the moderates CBR/CSR or Swan/Dolphin.

This is for Christmas time... I can get the Swan/Dolphin for the same as the moderates, but they aren't really Disney...
What would you do?

I would go for the Swan/Dolphin because you are right near the Boardwalk.

If you can truely get the Swan or the Dolphin for the same price as CBR or CSR go with the Swan/Dolphin hands down.

I haven't stayed at CBR or CSR (although we just booked CBR for our Jan vacation), but have stayed at the Dolphin and LOVED the location!!! We could run over to the Boardwalk Bakery in the mornings for breakfast, be at EPCOT in a short walk, and were a quick boat ride to MGM. The Heavenly beds and linens were very nice, too. If I could get the Swan or Dolphin for the same price as a mod, I would book S/D for location in a heartbeat!

I haven't stayed at any of these resorts, HOWEVER, if these were the four I had to choose from, I'd pick the Swan or Dolphin because of the LOCATION!

As mentioned, I'd pick the Swan/Dolphin for the heavenly beds alone!!! I just haven't been able to find a deal at the Swan/Dolphin to match the moderate price. Heavenly beds AND location, location, location! Heavenly.

On the dream unlimited site, I can get S/D for 169.00 plus tax Dec. 22-Dec. 27th with teacher discount, but it goes up just for the 28th.

CSR is 184.00 a night for that same time.

Did you try for a CSR AP rate? If they are the same price, I'd stay at the S/D! Try deluxe resorts for the AP rate, and maybe you can get one for 184. In that case, I'd chose the deluxe on property. Have a great time! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I will be staying at CSR next month for the 1st time but have had 3 stays at the Dolphin and I'd pick it over a Disney Mod. in a heartbeat...especially for that price! The only downside is no DME, you'll have to take a towncar or rent a car, and they do charge for parking there now.

Well, we actually had the same dilemma! We are going over the Thanksgiving break, our first holiday trip ever! I couldn't make up my mind between CSR (our favorite mod) or trying the Swan/Dolphin for the same price (teacher discount). We felt the same way, we were afraid the Dolphin wouldn't be too Disney enough. After careful review of the boards and looking at the amenities and the location of S/D we decided to go with the Dolphin. The S/D has a lot going on for the holidays and its a stone throw away from everything!! :goodvibes

The Dolphin, hands down.

I don't really understand why people think they "aren't Disney enough." What's more Disney than watching Illuminations while lying in bed? The location beats the others by a landslide and the beds are WAY better than anything in a Disney hotel. The oatmeal soap is way better than Mickey soap. And I can get by without a Mickey wakeup call. :teeth:

ITA - I don't get that either - Looking out over either Epcot, MGM or the Boardwalk seems to be the epitome of Magic for me - Floating about in a Tropical Themed Paradise like the Grotto while sipping a Mango Smoothie, sleeping in a soft as a cloud Heavenly Bed - walking to 2 theme parks - What could be more Disney than that? (And I totally agree with the soap thing - I'll take the nice oatmeal bath bar over the Mickey Ivory soap anyday!)

And let no one forget, the swan and dolphin was originally built and owned by Disney! :teeth:
