The Cast
Me - always dreamed of going to Disney but never thought it would happen.
DH - his worst nightmare has finally arrived he's going to Disney.
The alarm goes off a a quarter to five and I really don't want to get up, DH keeps calling and in the end I struggle out of bed at 5 o'clock. I manage to get it together and we leave the house just before six.
Check in is open when we arrive so we queue to check our cases. I ask for extra leg room but alas there is none but she can give us a window seat, great I tell DH he can hang his legs out of there.
It was a pretty good flight all things considered but long. We arrive at Sanford and it didn't take to long to get from passport control, they had things pretty much organised and the officer checking the passports was very friendly and joked with us which was not what I was expecting.
Out of the airport we are met by our transport which I was relieved was there. I had booked it from the internet and must admit wasn't totally sure it would work out. It was a good drive from the airport but our driver was Italian and didn't speak much English so the conversation was pretty much non existance, I suppose I was expecting more.
We arrive at the hotel and I had sent my payment details over the internet for the round trip which should have been $130 but it appeared that they didn't take them and would only take the fair for the one way which was $70 and she did at least speak english to inform me that it didn't include her tip! We were told that we would pay the other $70 on the return something which displeased dh but we were too tired to argue.
Check in the hotel and are given our room keys, we are in the other part of the hotel which is a separate building so with nerves knotting my stomach (after reports of this hotel) we make our way to our room. Not being a lover of heights I was relieved to see it was on the ground floor and was facing the pool. After opening the door I gingerly stepped in and although their was a bit of a smell it wasn't too bad (too be honest I never noticed it after a few minutes). The carpet was clean and although it wasn't luxury it certainly wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Clothes were quickly unpacked and after a quick cup of coffee we go and explore the hotel. The pool area was quite small for the size of the hotel but in the end we never found this a problem as there were never more than a couple of people round it during the times we used it.
Back in the room dh decides we should walk to Universal, well I must admit I was suprised as I expected him to be in bed by now but I am all fired up and ready to go in 15 mins. We walk into the I drive and my first impressions - well I hated it. I didn't dare tell dh as I had been bugging him for years to go to the US and I knew he wouldn't be pleased so I plastered the smile on my face and told him how great it was to be here.
We walk up to the top of the drive and ask a couple how to get to Universal ( I can't believe we are going to walk and haven't a clue where we are going!).
After a 20 minute walk we arrive at Universal and all my doubts disapear like they were never there. I am speechless and excitement has taken over like you wouldn't believe. Darkness is falling now and the whole of City Walk is lit up and the atmosphere is tremendous. Out comes the digital camera and its clicking like theres no tomorrow, dh comments its a good job it's not film as if it was it would cost more than the holiday to develop them at this rate.
After a couple of cokes and a walk around we are both feeling tired so at about 10 o'clock we walk back to the hotel where we both fall into bed shattered. I lie there thinking about my day and what we will be doing tomorrow and suddenly I am wide awake again so I creep out of bed so as not to disturb dh (not that I think I could) and go outside and watch the world go by on the drive. After about an hour I go back to bed but something tells me it won't be long before I am back up again.
