wow im gonna have to get a cavaty filled in pretty soon,.... i never ever had one before...does it hurt?? should i be afraid???? im already scared and the cavity hurts already...help :teeth:

I'm the biggest chicken you'll ever meet and I wasn't bothered when I got my cavity filled. They numb you you don't feel a thing. The only thing that bothered me was the sound the drill made. Good luck. :wizard:

i had about twenty filled ( i didn't brush my theet when i was little, now i paying for it). They numb it by injection or you use laughing gas. You rarly feel the drill, the sound always got to me though. But you'll be fine.

Gotta get mine filled tomorrow. The novacaine shot(yeah big spelling error there) always feels like a small little pinch. Believe it or not...it really isn't too big of a deal. I was really scared the first time and had a really hard time relaxing. I was really tense which caused me to shake a lot. Some advice for not getting cavities...brush your teeth two to three times a day, use act flouride, FLOSS, and cutting back on the pop, drinking it with food, and sticking to the not so sugared to NO pop at all...really does help. This is coming from a teen too. Also, from a person with a fear of shots...it really isn't so bad, but your lip feels really fat afterward even though it really is not!

oo wow thanks...good luck on your dental work being done...lemme know how it goes :)

Wear your headphones during the procedure so you won't hear the drill. And don't be too shy to tell them you feel scared. Lots of people do. The dentist can do a lot of things to make you feel better.

I've been a critical care nurse for 28yrs; :crazy2: I've seen some pretty ucky stuff. But when it comes to dentistry I'm the biggest weinie. My dentist & I have learned to communicate very well--he gives me drugs and nobody gets hurt. :rotfl: Best of luck to you. Having 8 cavaties filled made me a believer in tooth-brushing. ::yes::

I've never had a cavity, so I couldn't tell you. :confused3

Just back from the dentist. My whole right half is numb...from my ear to the right side of my upper lip. Novacaine didn't really hurt, but man...it really does numb you. For some reason when the drill is actually in your mouth the sound is magnified a bit, don't be worried by it, but the sound is rather annoying. The most painful part was when they had to clamp my tongue and put a pin into the unnumbed part of my gum, well it was when they pulled it out that it hurt. The dentist made a little ****oo on me..oops. Once you have the cavity filled...it feels so much better and another bit of advice: I have the porcelain/ceramic fillings done..well if they tell you to come back once you are not numb to fix your bite if it is messed up due to the uneveness of your teeth...DO IT!!! Don't assume you will get used to it if your bite is not correct after the filling.

I`ve never had a cavity, but I have had seven teeth pulled, and that wasn`t bad at all. Hope that helps a little :confused3

:teeth: yeahh thats a goood idea headphones...and yeah would have done what you said not to: think that my bite will sum how adjust to the way my teeth...thanks everyone for your help <3 u all
