caution lynx bus stop

just a word of caution that ,whilst waiting for the lynx bus to disney a mini -van is stopping and asking if you want to go to disney for 2$ per person.without really thinking the 3 of us jumped on and of to disney we went no problem,we even arranged a time for him to pick us up to go straight to our hotel.problem he never turned up so had to make our own way back to the hotel.the thing is without thinking this guy could have been a robber or worse PLEASE BE CAREFULL WE ARE IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY NOT AT HOME.

Good advice Jess, so many of us leave our brains behind when we go on holiday!
I did a simailar thing in Aruba this year, me, mum and my DS were waiting ages for our cab and another english family were also waiting, a mini bus arrived and said they'd take us for $1 each so we went, we were lucky and I wouldn't have done it if the other english family hadn't contained 2 big burly men but it was still a very silly risk

I must admit I am a security freak LOL I panic about everyone abroad I can see why people do forget your having a great time and you trust people. Same with pools though all the accidents each summer. I am pleased your safe, shame about not getting back easily though.

You should never get into unlicenced cabs in Florida. Mind we we had a bad experience with a cab from Universal once. We went to the line waited for the cab, got in and asked for the Days Inn Lakeside which is on Sand Lake Road, just off Internatinal Drive, this was our first trip (about 4 years ago now) so we didn't have a clue what was what. We were going over a fly over and I happened to notice our hotel and think, this doesn't seem right. I spoke to the driver who then said "oh i thought you meant the other Days Inn Lakeside", well by the time we actually arrived at our hotel our taxi bill was around $50, we had been totally ripped off, because there is no other Days Inn Lakeside, or so we were told.

Those mini cabs are always stopping at the bus stop and trying to persude people to get in. I have heard that once inside and on the way, the cab drivers then want more money out of you and wont let you out until given, very scary stuff.

I got a cab from DTD to go to one of the shopping malls and the driver totally ripped us off as well. He spent ages just driving around and when I asked him if we were nearly there he said he didnt know where he was going! He spent ages going all over the place until finally we saw some shops and told him to leave us there. I cant remember what shopping mall we wanted but it was one of the big ones and I cant believe he didnt know how to get there, he was obviously just hoping we were stupid tourists!

Also, in New York in 2002, my mum and I came out of JFK and were trying to find a cab when this guy asked us if we wanted to go by Limo, I cant remember how much it was but it was much cheaper than the cabs so we said yes. We were sat in the back of this Limo waiting whilst he tried to get a few more people and I opened my guide book and what did it say??? " Do NOT get a ride from the airport in a Limo as they are unlicenced and some of the men can be dangerous"!!! Before we could do anything tho he came back with more people and were off, to be fair we had no problems with him but I was sooooo scared!

All these bad stories about cabs are worrying. If we go next year we intend to use cabs a bit more. We didn't have any problems last year. Is any company any better than the other, or is ripping off tourists just down to the individual drivers. We just intended to jump into a cab waiting outside the parks, but now I'm feeling a bit wary.
