Caution: Coca Cola place in Epcot

Pepsi wouldn't do that to your skin, since someone would actually have to buy a Pepsi to spill it :)

One of the great mysteries of this life in my eyes is that some people actually prefer Pepsi to Coke :confused3

I was thinking more along the lines of the same effect as holy water on vampires.

Well, hey may have pulled it off the shelves back then, but what about all that syrup left over? Feed it to those foolish guests at Epcot!

I believe Beverly was looked for and not found in Italy - could be the same situation.

EXACTLY what I was going to say!

And speaking of Club Station Cool, here's a story:

We've been going for years, and my group of friends has always loved the Japanese Vegibeta (sp?). One of my friends is obsessed with it.

A few years back, I thought I'd try to buy him a case of it for Christmas. Disney, of course, can't or won't sell it. I called a Coke distributor and they told me that they'd never heard of it, and that it probably wasn't sold in the US at all. They told me my only hope would be to go to Japan, or to maybe check a Japanese grocery in New York City. I pretty much gave up.

Then, this year, we actually went to Japan. My friend was psyched and started looking for it immediately. It was nowhere to be found in the endless rows of vending machines that they have (literally, everywhere). We asked a few people, and they'd never heard of it.

We ended up meeting up with a Japanese college buddy who lives outside of Tokyo. He'd also never heard of it, but did some research. Turns out that it was sold in Japan only briefly in the 80's or 90's!!!

What is Disney trying to pull! This is a fraud! (I'm kidding).

But it leads me to wonder about the other brands they sell (Beverly, etc...). Has anyone ever found any of them in their respective countries???

I don't know about Beverly, but I do know that Mezzo Mix is actually really popular in Germany. I just about lived off that stuff when I was there in high school. :thumbsup2

It is a real beverage that used to be sold in Japan.

The "beta" part of it was a fad that people thought would make you smarter or prettier or thinner or something (it stands for beta carotene, IIRC), and the Japanese equivalent of the FDA cracked down on it for false advertising, so they stopped selling it.

Beverly was Coke's attempt to break into the "bitter after-dinner drink" market in Italy, it's common in Italy and Spain to drink a bitter drink, either alcoholic or not, after dinner. So Coke wanted to sell something people to drink in that situation. It's flavored with anise (like licorice). But no, they don't sell it there either--remember that Club Cool has been open for over 10 years now, that's a long time for a fad to last.

My DH doesn't like sweet beverages, and he thought the Beverly was okay ... not something he'd seek out, but something he was certainly willing to drink.

Coke cleans corroded battery connections on your car...

so you figure the math..

Actually, you figure the pH...

Stomach acid is stronger - pH of around 2.5, while all I could find for the pH of coca cola was 2.6 - 4.0

I tired something very similar to Beverly in Italy. It was a type of Fanta and it was dark blue/purple color (the name escapes me). I threw it out pretty fast. Mezzo Mix is quite popular in Germany, I had some there. They don't have good Diet Coke in Europe, its called Coca-Cola Light and it just doesn't taste as good. We love club cool, my favorite is the Watermelon stuff from China.

I can say that I have my doubts about Beverly as I recall seeing a Food Network show that showed Beverly and it was clearly a red soda, yet in Club Cool it's clear,so my thinking is that if there was an actual Beverly drink in Italy it might have been a different color and flavor and Disney and Coke just put this rogue Beverly in there to get a reaction out of tourists, which they have.I also think they need to change it up and put in new sodas in there, all the sodas have been there forever!!!

I don't know about the others, but I do know that here in Mexico Manzana Lift is quite popular. In fact there are quite a few different kinds of apple sodas here (including regular, green and golden apple).
I've also seen them at different Mexican stores in the states.

OHH Smart Watermelon, how I long for you! Apparently the 'Smart' drinks in China are all different flavors, none of which you can buy online (I tried, unsuccesfully). I get cravings, oh how I get cravings. It was so bad last month, I went down for the day, spent an hour drinking Smart Watermelon. *sigh*

I snapped a picture of DS(3) as he took a sip of Beverly. I was expecting/hoping for a good reaction. Turns out he liked it?!?

I saw some girl throw up beverly next to me. Made my feelings on it all that much worse.

Mythbusters proved that one wrong!!!!
Oh yeah and 13 years of automotive experience!!!
But still a funny response to OP!!!:lmao:

well I know it works as I've used i and Mountain Dew. bth worked...

also, taken from http://mythbustersresults.com/episode5

Cola is able to clean battery terminals.

plausible

It works, but it was hard to tell if plain water did not perform just as well. The cola did not do anything spectacular.

Coke Classic is on the low end..
