I have put it in ice and it helped in the beginning but now it hurts when I put in in cold even more, now it's all swallen and it's starting to bruise. Thankfully it was only the fingertip , I can feel my finger and I just took two tylenol's, is there anything else I can do?
Oh man , this really hurts! Can I cry ?

Ouch!!!!! :( Be sure to keep it elevated, Olga!
Feel better!
CC

Yes cry!
Try ibuprofen in a couple hours.

:(

Not much you can do for a broken finger tip. Just keep it elevated to avoid swelling, and go to your nearest pharmacy and buy a finger splint. Keeping it still and straight and might help ease some of the pain. :(

OWWWIEEEEE,

Note to self garage doors have big teeth and like to bite while in motion.

Sorry about your finger.

No the finger is not broken , but I can feel now that I need it elevated , I feel the throbbing in the finger going on. good day to do nothing but watch tv.

Sorry about your finger - Do you think alcohol would help??

Ouch.. I am so sorry to hear. Cry away!

I would agree with others, elevate, put a finger splint on and take some ibprofen later. And stay away from garage doors!

Depends on whether you're talkiing about rubbing alcohol or the REAL STUFF! I would say the latter might do the trick...;)

Serious, though, it hurts me to just THINK about what happened to you! I'm so sorry. That must feel very bad.

I would take some prescription pain reliever if you have some, but wait until a good time after you've taken the over the counter stuff.

Take care... VAL

Yowie Olga, I am so sorry about your finger. I know it hurts, the throbbing is the worst. I have no other advice for you than what was already given, just sending pixie dust and {{{HUGS}}} your way.

Good advice here, Olga. Hope it is feeling better. I did that, as a teen, and will NEVER forget it. :eek: {{Hugs}}

I did this one time. If it helps, the severe pain didn't last too long. By the second day it just felt bruised. i think a day in front of the tv with your finger in the air is the perfect solution. Feel better soon.

Depends on what finger! ;) Shall I send you some bon bons while you relax on the couch? :p

{{{HUGS}}} Hope the pain goes away soon.

OUCH.......cry away! Sure hope that all the above advice can help. {{{HUGS}}}

Ouch! But I have to laugh - I saw the title of the thread and read it to DH, and his first comment was "and they're able to type out the post on the DIS boards?" That's dedication!

Get better soon!

A few years back I developed gas gangrene in my right hand from a puncture wound.. I have since learned that you can also get gas gangrene from a crushing injury - so PLEASE listen carefully!!

If your finger swells and or the skin gets "shiny" - or you touch it and it sounds crackly - like someone walking on Rice Krispies - GET TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM IMMEDIATELY!!!

I was rushed into emergency surgery and my family was told that I was within a matter of hours of DYING and they would "do their best" but odds were that my hand would have to be AMPUTATED!!

God was sitting on my shoulder.. I still have my hand, but it was a LOOOONGGGG painful recovery..

I "thought" it was just really "sore".. PLEASE don't take any chances!!

I thank everyone for their information , the pain has stopped but the swelling and bruising are here , there's no cracking noise but I know it will be a few days before it the swelling goes down.
I posted this morning eventhough I was in so much pain , because I knew that someone would give me options on what to do that I just couldn't think of at the time, I have to be very careful now though.
Thanks everyone.
