Well my 7 year old overheard my husband and I talking about Disneyland! He is SOOO excited he got goosebumps lol! So I let him tell his brothers and they immediately sat down at the computer to watch the Disney vacation video!

It was so endearing! I was downstairs and I could hear them upstairs talking& Giggling, Laughing, WHOAS and WOWs, oh no I'm not going on the tower of terror and MAtterhorn looks SO AWESOME!!!!

It's going to take a lot of books and videos to keep them entertained until December!

Anyone know of any upcoming travel channel or Disney things to watch??

Also, just picked up the Unnoficial Guide 2009. Any other suggestions?? There's a bunch of Iphone apps too, trying to decide...

Not that I know off the top of my head, but If you have on demand, you could probably find some.
Samantha Brown did a few shows about Disney a couple of years ago, maybe you can find those ones. or on youtube ofcourse. LOL

How exciting! Just keep visiting the Disney website and let them play around.

Have a great time planning! Your poor boys are going to love thier december trip. :santa: you will too ofcourse. :) :cheer2:

Sometimes I'll get on youtube and watch ride videos with the kids. My boys like to pretend they're on the rides, especially my 3 (going on 4) year old who hasn't been big enough to do some of the rides his brothers love. The quality isn't that great, but they don't seem to mind too much about that.

Make sure they watch the movies that have rides- Pinochio, Alice, Snow White, Pinnochio, Toy Story, Dumbo, Bug's life, Monsters Inc. (They may be too young for Pirates)
We rented Mr Frog (it was on a double dvd with Ikabod Crane). We have a friend who has a copy of Song of the South (for Splash Mountain)

You could see the following character- Brother Bear characters, Mulan, Cinderella, Aurora (sleeping Beauty), Ariel, Belle, Aladin characters, Jungle Book characters, Cruella Deville (101 dalmations), Incredibles, Maybe watch the 3 amigos to see Donald, Mickey and Goofy.......

We just started rewatching our movies to prepfor our surprise trip!!! Have fun!!!

There is an iPhone app called Walkie(sp) that seems to keep their attention for hours.

The Unofficial Guide to DL 2009 is a little outdated. (The 2010 edition should be available in late-August or early-September.)

The following thread lists some of the outdated information:

i just watched over the week end 3 episodes of the Disney Parks...one was samatha brown and her tips of disneyland and world. another was rides, an the other was animal kingdom in orlando.all was on the travel channel.

Here are assorted Disney shows to look for on the Travel Channel, Food Network or YouTube, Hulu, Amazon, etc. (some DLR-themed, some WDW):

Disney's Best Kept Secret - Travel Channel

Unwrapped - Walt Disney World Resort - Food Network

Disney: On a Dime - Travel Channel

Season of Disney: Disney Splurge! - Travel Channel

Samantha Brown's Disney Favs - Travel Channel

Behind the Bash - Disney's Anniversary Blowout - Food Network

Holidays at Walt Disney Resort (features all the food decorations and displays around WDW) - Food Network

Disney Holiday Magic/Samantha Brown - Travel Channel

Undiscovered Walt Disney World - Travel Channel

Ultimate Walt Disney World - Travel Channel

Fan's Guide: Walt Disney World - Travel Channel

Disney's Animal Kingdom - Travel Channel

Disney Cruise Line - Travel Channel

Walt Disney World Resort - Travel Channel

Disneyland Resort: Behind the Magic (I think it was Behind the Magic; it might have been Behind the Scenes!:lmao:) - Travel Channel

Into the Fire - Disneyland - Food Network

________________________________________________________

Also, there have been shows about Disney weddings & celebrations at WDW on the Travel Channel, Food Network and on the WE network.

Samantha Brown did a whole series called "Great Hotels," and one episode featured the Grand Californian, while several other episodes featured WDW hotels such as Animal Kingdom Lodge, Grand Floridian, Yacht and Beach Club, etc.

AND......stay tuned this coming November, I believe, for a Guy Fieri special on the Food Network about holiday food/snacks at DLR, which he filmed last December when some of us DIS-ers were there. YellowMickeyPonchos got to meet him while he helped make fresh candy canes!

So, does anyone know of any other DLR or WDW-related shows besides all the ones I listed above?

For a while, the Travel Channel was repeating all the episodes of Samantha Brown's Great Hotels, including the ones I mentioned about the GCH, the Yacht & Beach Club, Grand Floridian and one or two others, but they stopped running them about 2 years ago, I think. They are sold on DVD, however, so you may be able to find them on Amazon. I would like to have the GCH Great Hotels episode. But all of those other Travel Channel DLR-WDW shows are still in rotation and pop up here and there. As for the Food Network shows like Behind the Bash and Into the Fire (about DLR restaurants), they have stopped running as often and are getting harder to catch. The Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort show on the Food Network used to run every holiday season, but it did NOT run last year at all, so I am guessing they may have phased it out of their schedule.

I can't wait to see the Guy Fieri Food Network special about DLR holiday food in November! I was there that same weekend when he was here, but I was not one of the ones lucky enough to see him making candy canes!
