Couldn’t believe we were all awake by 4.30am. OK, TV on – kids were given strict instructions NOT to get out of bed till the big hand was pointing to 12 and the little hand was pointing to 6. I couldn’t believe the weather either – it was heavy rain, and felt really cold!!! Kids were not happy, as we’d promised some pool time here this morning.
Kids did as they were told and stayed in bed till almost 6. Bathed, showered and dressed and out for breakfast at the unearthly hour of 7am!!!! Food court was very quiet!!! Same selection as yesterday, although they didn’t have the yummy corned beef hash I had yesterday! Back to the room to wait for the rain to stop!!! We packed away our things and put them into the car. Kids watched some TV and I got some trip report notes written up. We needed to check out by 11 today. By 9.30 the rain had stopped and sun was making an appearance, so we headed to the pool. There is a choice of two pools at the Nick Hotel, the Oasis Pool and the Lagoon Pool. The Lagoon pool was not fully opened yet, so we opted for the oasis Pool.

It wasn’t very busy at all – there are free life jackets for the kids to use. The kids loved it. We spent around three hours here in total.

After we were dry and sorted we said goodbye to the Nick Hotel. So what did I think of the Nick Hotel. I thought the theming was great for kids, but I’m not a huge fan of hotels this size for holidays, and I don’t think I could have spent 2 weeks here. I much prefer staying in a villa, so 2 nights was enough, and at $225 a night, I thought it was a bit steep. The rooms were nice and clean, beds comfortable, so no complaints in that area.

All that swimming had made us hungry, so we let the kids chose lunch. Burger King!! Usual BK stuff here – we ate it in the car. Weather was perfect – 76 degrees, no clouds, no breeze.

Ok, so we did a bit of a time check. We could get into the villa by 4. It was now 1pm. So we drove to Flying Doctors Wal-Mart to get the supplies for the villa. We were shopping for 14, so it wasn’t just a wee quick shop!!! We stocked up on the essentials………..Pringles, donut holes, Mountain Dew…and the usual bread, milk etc etc. Nobody intended to do any real cooking in the villa, so it really was just snacks and breakfast items. 2 hours later and $150 lighter, we left Wal-Mart. I was really excited about getting to the villa and my plan was unpacking the shopping, nipping into the pool and waiting for another family to arrive in early evening. We pulled up to the villa and keyed in the key code and sure enough the door opened. As I walked into the villa I noticed the cushions were not neatly placed on the sofa, and a heap of towels were lying on the floor. My horrible suspicions were confirmed when I had a look in one of the loos and realised it hadn’t been cleaned since the last guests left. I immediately phoned the company. No answer so I left a message. They did get back to me almost immediately. They said they didn’t know we were arriving. I was so angry!!!!! Anyway, to cut a long story short, he organised the villa to be cleaned. And sure enough 2 non-English speaking girls arrived to clean the villa. He phoned us and said we would need to leave the villa to allow it to be cleaned. But I told him we were not leaving. There was a bit of an argument, but in the end we didn’t leave. And we stayed downstairs while they cleaned upstairs, then we went upstairs while they cleaned downstairs. The girls were very thorough and the villa was immaculate. During the foray, the second family of 5 arrived.
So in the end no pool tonight! But once the kids were in bed we got Pizza from Giordanos. The first of many takeaways from Giordanos during the holiday!!! I must say, the food was excellent from there.
And so to bed, the third family would be arriving tomorrow – or so we thought!!!

Wow Cath, your villa looks like a mansion!!

I had to LOL at this:

We stocked up on the essentials………..Pringles, donut holes, Mountain Dew

You are a woman after my own heart ;)

Thank you for the photos of the Nick - I cannot disagree that the overwhelming feel is that of citrus colours though ;)

Thanks again for your trip reports, I am enjoying them. :)

Your villa looks stunning :sunny:
Glad to here that the company sorted out the mess, could have been a terrible start :)

Great report - The picture of the villa you stayed in explains why we return to Emerald Island year after year, its just an amazing complex to stay at with fantastic villas.

Really enjoying your reports ~ Thanx for sharing.

How annoying to find it hadn't been cleaned! And how could they not know you were coming - they knew they'd got your money, I bet

Looks a great villa though - looking forward to the rest of your reports

Not what you need to walk into a unclean villa...:( I would've been angry too.

Lovely photo's Cath.

Shame your villa hadn't been cleaned but well done for standing your ground with the management company! Off to read some more!
