I currently have a reservation for the 4 pm show on Nov. 17. I reserved it with my DV card. We have free dining, but it shows we have category 1 seating. does this mean we have to pay OOP for this meal? I was under the impression only the 6:30 show didn't take the DDP for Category 1 seating? So confused!

Yes, you wil have to pay for it. Cat 1 is only available for the 8:30 show under the DDP with cc guarantee.

We have a 4 pm show and were able to book only Cat 2 & 3 under the DDP.

1) Yes.
2) Using DDP for Cat-1 only applies to the late show.

For what it's worth: if you want to change it and use your DDP for the 4pm show, you'll most likely still be SUPER close to the front. The 4pm show is always the least crowded/busy, we've paid for category 3 and ended up in 2, or paid for 2 and ended up right by the stage, simply because it's so empty.

If it's worth it to save the money, and use the 2 ddp credits instead, this is an option!

check first if there is availbility with DP.

IMO. there are not really any bad seats.. Balcony maybe not so great,, but on the main floor, even the back tables are good.. The performers move in the crowd.

Now paying OOP or using 2 TC is another discussion.. we always used the DP....
