Hi all!

For a newbie to cruising, let alone DCL cruising, is it worth the $250 extra to go from Deck 2 to Deck 7 (Cat 9 to Cat 8)?

We have a three year old and a 1 year old, if that makes a difference.

Cheers

David

We prefer deck 2, working under the theory presented to us by my mother, a former cruise line employee, that the closer to the water line, the less rocking...

That, plus we liked being 1 deck up from where you get off for the ports, and 1 deck down from the clubs and main dining floor.

The clubs are on deck 5, also the movie theater. It depends on many things what deck you decide on. If you or your family are prone to seasickness maybe a lower deck would be better. We just booked a cat. 8 on deck 6 because we like the convenience of being closer to various public areas of the ship (down to WD Theater, shops, restaurants, up to pool, spa, etc.) Also, I am not one for elevators and it is easier to use the stairs from deck 6 up to deck 9. I don't think I could walk from deck 2 up to deck 9.

On our first DCL cruise we were in cat. 9, deck 2 and liked it very much. We just booked our second cruise, also cat. 9, deck 2. I don't think it's worth the extra money to upgrade to category 8.

Just got back and we were on Deck 6, midship, LOVED IT!! It was so convienent to everything on the ship. We could easily hop back to room if we forgot anything. Rarely ever even used the elvevators.
